I don't know if anyone looks at TF Wiki very much, but apparently they are having a boatload of issues right now. The site was down completely yesterday. It is back up today, but they lost a whole bunch of content. Anyone know what is up?

As I'm not a contributer there, I can't say exactly but I have looked over the discussion pages regarding this. If anyone can answer with better knowledge please do.

It would appear that due to an issue with the guys holding their servers that something crashed and thety have lost a lot of the newer pages and most of the alterations made to pages since they left Wikia.

They are trying to rebuild things now, going thru cached information and such. It will be a large roject to get it back to where it was but hopefully we will be seeing improvements as they work thru things.

The scoop:

On the eve of March 15 our lovely server guy decided to do an unannounced upgrade of our wiki software and optimization of our database. The upgrade corrupted the database. He didn't make a backup first. Turns out our website hadn't been set up for regular backups, either. The earliest backup of our database the server guy had was from June 2008, even before we left Wikia.

Whee.

The good news is that we managed to save a lot of Google's cache pages for our major content, got them auto-reformatted, and are now in the process of auto-reposting everything. (Well, everything written... I have no idea how we're going to be handling images yet.)

The bad news is that a metric crapload of manual cleanup is going to be needed to get everything back in order, since the automated part isn't perfect - including a lot of rebuilding and reapplying our templates (which we have a lot of).

So we're not out, but we are definitely going to be at least semi-down until we can get everything resorted.

Man, thats a shame. I usually don't buy the comic books, and get my info from that site. Hopefully you guys get that back up and running. Good luck!

Yea I hated what happened luckily I managed to salvage my articles and am starting to put them back together. Bloody bookworm cu*t, we should get a new server guy.

I hope this can speed things up a bit.

I enyoy reading on TFWiki alot, in fact i have been getting most of my transformers 'knowledge' directly from there since i came out of my dark ages.

Hope you guys can get it sorted and back up, shame about al that hard work.

as for the server guy..... the words 'feeding' and 'Grimlock' come to mind
