PCA--anyone going?

Pop Culture Association is having their conference 8-11 April. There are two papers being offered that might be interesting.

"Authenticity, Popular Aesthetics and Sub-Cultural Politics of an Unwanted Blockbuster: the Case of Transformers" (I presume they mean Bay's movie, but I'm not sure.)

And

"Look! Up in the Heavens! It's a Sun, it's a Planet, It's...a Vagina Dentate: A Re-examination of The Transformers The Movie's Unicron" (The fact that this one misspells 'dentata' doesn't give me much hope.)

I was dismayed, because I was secretly hoping that my paper would be the first Transformers paper to hit PCA (next fall), but still, we're getting cultural chops!

I can't go this year, but if anyone's interested, I'll be trying to contact the writers to get copies of their papers. Medievalists are pretty friendly about this kind of sharing, but I can't speak for Pop Culture from experience.

HK, should be grading midterms.
