http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800 ... id=18&cs=1Hollywood may have foreshadowed the future of Pontiac in "Transformers" when one of the film's heroic robots, played by the carmaker's two-seater roadster, was violently ripped apart and tossed aside.
Anyone fancy wildly speculating what this will do for movie 3?
I not sure how many other characters use these as an alt mode, but it looks like we wont be seeing any more.

Now I'll never get my updated Firebird based off the 2010 Camaro body
I guess a 02 WS-6 will have to do

I saw that news and shed a tear. I will just have to be happy with my 2000 Trans Am.

My reaction was how will this affect any future TF films. GM is also getting rid of the Hummer brand as well (poor Ratchet

). They have drop a car that was actually exported to the US from good old Australia known as the Holden Commodore here you guys called em Pontiac G8's. Ive been keeping a tab on how GM's doing simply because of the cars used in TF. I just hope they don't totally go away.

First GM decides sand down the Hummer's edge's; The H2, Then they decide to just chop it's balls completely off; The H3, and now the sumbitches are just going strait for euthanasia.

GM made numerous tactical errors with the Hummer line. First thing they did is take the Hummer, double the price, change the engine and interior and call it an H1 turn it into a "Brand" and they lost their clientele of which I am intimately familiar with. Then they came out with the H2 which was an embarrasment that got about 8 mpg. The original "H1 gas vehicles got about 10 mpg which was aweful and they discontinued the gas versions after marketing them for two years, but this was before the days of GM. AM General saw the problem and corrected it and went back to diesels.
GM sold more H2's in the first quarter than H1's were ever made over 12 years of production. Once the reality of owning an H2 and getting the poor mileage and that certain different clientele hit, sales dropped off rapidly after they got a bad rap. Again, they were trying to make them some kind of luxury vehicle. GM was making the Hummer line "self important" and even required all dealers that sold H2's to build expensive showrooms that all look similar in design. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
I used to work for GM many years ago and know how they think. I, for one, am glad to see them get rid of Hummer, Pontiac or whatever else is dogging them. They need to wise up! I had always owned at least one GM vehicle, but now drive Ford's and still have my AM General truck (pre-GM).
I am disappointed that Transformers seems to be a big car advertisement. I wish they had picked something that did not need licensing, like generic looking cars. I never cared for movies that were just advertisements. I am pretty sure that that is what TF2 is. Just flood the movie with Cars and things to make loads of toys. It is not about the movie, it is about the marketing of stuff.

I want to start this by saying, I love cars.
The American car companies made a mess of themselves over the last 20 years by spreading themselves way too thin, underestimating competition from foreign companies, and not anticipating the economy. They needed to scale back car lines and close a lot of dealerships or risk losing everything. While I am sorry to see Pontiac go, if that brand wasn't making them money, close it down. I am not upset to see the gas guzzling, overpriced, "look at me", brand Hummer go down. No one needs an H2, especially the soccer moms you usually see behind the wheel of them.
As far as how this affects TF's, I am sure the characters will make do. I am sure Ratchet can scan something else out there that would work for him (an ambulance maybe).
