Have you inspired anyone else to start a collection?

The title pretty much says it. Have you and your collection had an influence on friends and/or family members going out and buying Transformers?

In my case, my wife actually has a small collection now. It's full of fembots like Arcee bikes, Glyph, and the new Elita-1 Botcon exclusive plus some pretty easy to transform stuff like the G1 Throttlebots and some legends figures. She also has G2 Beachcomber because he is "shiny."

Does my 3 year old nephew count?

He's got two Cyber Slammer, two Bumper Battlers, two Gravity Bots (his favourite) and a couple of Legends.

That absolutely counts. He'll grow up to be a fine young man, for sure (unless your genetics get the better of him) Okay, so i stole a page from your playbook

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't say i've inspired him to like TF's, or even had much influence.

He's seen my collection, then he started watching Animated, moved onto the first movie, became a big Bumblebee fan and now can't get enough of them.

The scary part is though i've shown him a picture of G1 Megatron (at a point when he hadn't seen any G1 stuff) and he was able to tell me who it was!

My kids were just getting to that age of being interested in Transformers when I started reintegrating myself into their lives. I'm sure they would have still had the interest in the line that was running at the time but now, because of me, they specifically look for G1 and Beastwars stuff when they go to garages sales or Thrift stores with their Mom or Grandma.

let me rephrase that: in customizing. im the only one in our family that has been doing for a while, he will tear a TF apart rearrange the parts and call it a custom.

Yep. I am quite pleased with myself actually.

I am the person that all of the parents come running to when their kids ask them for one of those "fagnabbled robot toys". I usually translate for them and can usually get them to understand if not enjoy.

One of my co-workers now has her own little BB collection. She's even got the autographed G1 Bee poster that I gave her up on her wall in her office. Even her mother has bought Uni Galvatron for herself. Not sure if she's opened it though.

Finally, i've gotten a few otherwise non-TF fans to come and see ROTF with me and i've got two more takers waiting in the wings. Just waiting for some freetime.

What can I say? Its a mission :P.

I've stopped trying to influence people, ever since my seven year old cousin got a Movie Jazz figure...Oh gawd never again...He got it for his birthday and then broke it several hours later.

Not so much to start a collection buy to find toys. There one clothing store I regularly go to(love the cute tees they sell) and the manager knows Im a fan she asked if I had seen any Movie Leader Class Optimus anywhere in town as she was looking for one for her nephew. Told her if I saw one I'd let her know. Sometimes Ive been given info by non-fans I know they saw stuff and thought I might be interested in it.

I got my brother sort of into it. He still likes playing with them from time to time. I actually for a while needed to keep my collection way off limits because he would often take some of my figures down and play with them. I had a Classics Starscream that he stole and took to school, and when he brought it back, it was missing its Nul-rays. #-o Now at least he's older and is starting to collect some of his figures. So I guess I've kind of inspired him to start collecting.

I kind of got my parents into the whole collecting Transformers activity, as I store somewhat half of my collections still at my parent's house. :P And my parents sometimes will find some figure that I was looking for and pick them up while they went shopping.

My brother started getting into them after the first movie came out. He bought Voyager Starscream and Ironhide after playing with them at my house. He now buys all the toys he can find for those two characters.
