A great birthday party for me

I turned 30 on August 30th (ugh). My girlfriend told me she was throwing me a party. I was in on the planning and the guest list. She did not, however, tell me the theme for the party.

When we got to the restaurant the entire place was decked out in Transformers stuff! There were TF balloons (one was a 3 foot tall Animated OP), tablecloths, stramers, confetti, cake, toys, gift bags, you name it. There was even a bottle of Jack dressed up like Bumblebee.

It was mostly our families and my friends from high school and college in attendance (about 60 people. Most of them all said the same thing: this was a great idea for a party theme (even though you are now old). I guess as long as you act like you are 12, you are never really old.

My girlfriend is great.

I wish someone did that for me. Sounds like she's a keeper! You're 3 years and 1 day older than me.

No pic. I don't have the equipment or know how. It was a chocolate sheet cake with peanut butter icing. My mom wrote Transformers in icing and put little movie figures all over the cake. The figs are now on my computer at school.

She is great. We have been together 6 years, so I guess I should keep her around.

It's a good time to have a birthday. I am a teacher, so it closes out the summer nicely. Of course 130 students to look after is not the greatest birthday present...

I suspect my office might beat yours in sheer Transformerosity. I keep my overflow of action figures here (just brought in my spare 2007 Movie Starscream) and about...let's see...5 TF posters. My officemates *hate* me. ( *win* )

130 students to look after is what we in the education business like to call 'birth control.' As in, OMG I do NOT want to have one of these in my frickin' HOUSE.

Sounds fun! Would have been more fun if you had invited *us*, however. :P

My big birthday gift to myself was my trip to Botcon, 2 days later. So, in a way, my birthday 'party' was bigger than yours. Nyah.

Okay, you still win. Yours was better. :(

HK, upgrade her from girlfriend to fiancee.

Be very careful about the marriage suggestions that a website worshipping giant, transforming, make believe robots :P

I do third the motion though! Get married as a transformer couple! I suggest somebody cool, not the Optimus/Elita 1 idea.

Go as Springer and Arcee and make the best man Rodimus! Muahahaahahah

First of all, a belated happy birthday to you, sir!

Secondly, your girlfriend did such a touching thing! It's one thing to throw a birthday party with a theme like this but it sounds like she went all out. Anyone can simply dress a party up with Transformers themed things but the seemingly simple detail of dressing up the bottle of Jack like BB really shows she cares about you and your interest. As others have said, she's a keeper! :D

You're only as old as you feel!

Thank you to all that suggested that we get married. No one has ever suggested that before :D

I am sure it does. I have a movie poster up, a couple little figures from the cake, and a OP cardboard standup M & M's display. I keep all the really good stuff at home, far away from the reach of 11 and 12 year olds.

BTW, I told my girlfriend that I posted this, so of course she went online and checked out the post. She was very happy about the positive feedback from the group. She then (sarcastically) told me how great she is.
