Transformers MMO?

I don't know about the rest of you but I think it would be kinda awesome as hell if they'd make an online TF game. Something like an MMOFPS with a switchable view to third person and the ability to transform at will. I imagine any TF game they make for online will be an MMORPG that will suck major slag. I think they'd be able to pull it off if they just put some effort into it, make the bots fully customizable, let you select head type, eye components, head spikes or whatever, body type, arm designs and so on and a transformation, which you could get after reaching lvl 2 and getting a new transformation cog, then you could choose the type of vehicle you turn into and the alt mode effects what your bot mode looks like, i.e. kibble such as wings or wheels, and if you did certain missions you could upgrade your transformation cog and become a triple changer, so now you're running around as a bot with a weapon you bought at an armory, no classes to choose from that affect your characters weapons and armor, and you have wide open areas that you could either run across or transform and "roll out" to speed across. I also think PvP would be great in a TF game, you Autobots could fight Decepticons and such and NPCs would consist of well know G1 chars and other recognizable TF people......sorry for the long rant, I just really want a TF MMO to play on my PC.

Wow! Its lke you were reading my mind! I've had an idea like this for ages! However, chances are it would have to be a MMORPG because otherwise the people making it wouldn't get any money and they'd probably lose a hell of a lot as well. Unless, we can find some fans who would be interested in doing this for free?
No?
Oh well...
Anyway I made some notes on what would be included in case anyone is interested, just PM me or something.

awsome idea, especially the freedom to create a character!
maybe (possibly a stupid idea) we should start a petition for it!?

As long as it's not a WoW clone, it would be great. The whole leveling-killthisthing-gatherthesethings dynamic is getting tired out. Maybe if the enhancements came to the frame of the robot itself, instead of an innate "you gain X hitpoints when you level up" sort of thing. Find parts, get tougher.

They could still charge a monthly fee for an MMO. I think it would be best with Dynamic Combat/Action meaning you press a button and your char shoots or swings his energo sword or throws a punch as opposed to you click an attack on a tool bar and after a few seconds your char performs that action. I think it'd do great to offer up an NPC partner like Phantasy Star Universe/Online did, maybe a little protoform minicon that you can "feed" parts like gears and batteries and install upgrades on, when you feed him enough he/she levels up and when they level up enough they can get a transformation based on the components you placed into them, such as mini bomber plane that will drop bombs on your enemies, a speedy car that can scout ahead or it could even transform into a gun or saber to give you an edge in combat, while in robot mode it could follow you around and repair you if needed, unlock doors and even help you fight enemies.

should we petition a game company to create a Transformers MMO?

It won't happen. As great as the idea may be.
MMO's cost way too much to make. There is all the dedicated servers needed for each planet, base, etc.
Plus there is the upkeep cost, you have to have people hired to stay on and make updates, patches, to fix bugs, people to GM the game, help staff.
Basically, any MMO isn't that profitable for the first couple of years. The reason WOW is doing so well, is because of how many people they have playing it.
I highly doubt Hasbro would be willing to put in the money for a Transformers MMO that has the high possibility of not churning out profits for a couple of years as it waits for more people to pick up the game.
It's a lot easier to just make a regular game for PC/Consoles and get a good profit, than it would be for them to spend the time doing an MMO.

the transformers mmo game does sound like an awsome idea. and it would be cool to design what your tf looks like, what the alt mode looks like and that you can design how you transform. i also got more ideas for it. at a certain level, you would be able to get a minicon, but you would have to find it first in the map. and for each server of the game, there would be the cybertron keys that you would have to find and it stays in someones possesion untill killed and then the killer gets the key after. who ever has all four keys would be allmost unstopable. and there would be 2 versions of the game. like coh and cov, there would a be a good guy version and a bad guy version. and you choose what type of tf you becaome from animals or vehilces. the npc would have to be someone like prime or megatron, depending on what side you choose. i think it would have to be a third person view just to see a lil more action like the tf game coming out based on the movie.

This would be awesome
Except for the fact that things would be a bit...dull
Imagine this
All of the Screamer fans...Seekers
All of the Prime Fans...trucks
It would end up being much the fandom
Divided horribly

Not necessarily, you could set parts on Cybertron, so you wouldn't have any trucks at all! Although you'd still have the seekers problem.
As for the petition thing, it would probably work better if people from the site came forward and said they'd like tyo take part in it. Then maybe we could suggest the idea to Hasbro.
And it would definitely have to be third person

Starscream and Optimus Prime aren't the only fan favorites out there. There's oodles of people who dig even the obscurest characters.

Yeah, I don't think every player is gonna be a seeker, just because they have a jet alt mode doesn't mean they'd be a seeker. I'm sure if the bots were as customizable as CoH/CoV that we'd see a ton of variety and maybe a few dozen spin offs of original characters.

I personally wouldn't be a Seeker because the design would be popular, I'd rather have something more unique. As for customizability, I think the best way to do it is have a number of different designs that can be coloured your own way, and have a limited number of minor changes for each design. So for example if you did choose a Seeker design you could choose what head to have (Squareish G1, More rounded A/E/C style, G1 conehead or Armada conehead). The customizable changes would have to be small of course, as each design would need to be able to transform, so choosing random body parts wouldn't really work.

What I REALLY dont understand it... I "KNOW" someone out there in a position to make this happen... HAS to know about the fan following TF has... "ESPECIALLY NOW" with the MASSIVE hype around the movie.
I mean, take the TF game coing out soon with it as a example. It WILL RULE... an EACH system is gonna have diff features for its players.
I myself plan to buy the DS & PSP versions just because of the two having diff features available to the bots in it. An if my cheap rearend will cash out for somethin like that.. then there is BIG money to be made somewhere by SOMEONE in TF gaming.
So.. look at World of Warcraft.... if is HUGE.. an I bet if TF ever got a online game that was anywhere NEAR as good. 50-75% of those players would quit an come to the TF one.
...I know I would end my account with them to go to a TF online game... in a HEARTBEAT!
.no...
... 1/10 a heartbeat! An I would buy a years worth of play the FIRST month!!!

SO COME ON!!! SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A TF MMO!

yeah it's why I think they should do it soon, we have the hype of the new movie, 3 next gen systems available and the Havok physic engine that could make a lot of stuff possible in game. TF Online would suck if it was an MMORPG with turn based combat, an MMO with first person and third person dynamic combat would be way better, I mean imagine you're a speedy car blazing down an unmade trail through a metal city being chased by a few Deceptcion players from the other side of the world, going at about 90mph you hit the transform key and transform into bot mode, you do a 180 and slide backwards on your heels and place several well aimed shots right between the eyes of your pursuers before completing the turn into a 360 and you go back into alt mode and you speed away.
It'd be the best thing ever, especially if they used the Havok/Euphoria Physics engine to make it.

I agree, close to the movie's release would be PERFECT!!! It would snag [[TONS]] of players just from movie hype alone!
An as much as I HATE to say it. Even if it was a Movie style TransFormers "new bot look/transformation style" MMO... I would still buy a years worth of gameplay.

..afer all... its the fact that they "[TRANSFORM]" that orriginally got all our attention in the first place as kids.
the concept of playing on a RP server of TransFormers is making me drool....... "Mmmmmmmmmmmm, Transformy" [drools like homer].

IF a TF MMO were realease I'd go for a RP server, partially so that I could bring my HMW team to life & partially because I imagine an RP server would have a higher percentage of long term fans rather than people brought in by movie hype.
