If the excitement of BotCon, Tokyo Toy Show and the various other events this summer have left you gagging for more, you're in luck! A new event has been announced in Japan: Transformers Museum. To celebrate 2010, famous stores around Japan will be running exhibitions, and an obvious but welcome repaint will be making an appearance; a black redeco of Voyager Class Animated Optimus Prime.

So far not much is known about the event, though it will be occuring at Otsu Western Store in Kyoto from the 3rd of August to the 8th and at Yokohama Sogo Store from the 10th to the 16th. So far it is unknown if further stores and dates will be added. In addition to Optimus Prime Black Version being on sale in limited numbers for 4200 yen, attendees will be able to see a Camaro painted up as Bumblebee and two-metre-tall models of Prime and Bumblebee, and will be able to purchase Masterpiece Convoy as well as Transformers T-shirts and cups.

The Otsu Store's page can be seen here and a .pdf of Yokohama's event can be seen here (both are in Japanese but feature images).

Very cool! 4200 is a pretty fair price, I'll have to keep an eye out for one on ebay!

At the risk of playing the pessimist, that's 4200 for a figure that will be limited to Botcon-type numbers. Expect a healthy mark-up on that price.

Yeah, the Botcon 2010 toys are going for like 300% original cost, I expect this Prime to be even more. Maybe I should just stop buying exclusives altogether... it's the only way I can accept the fact that I can't afford most of them.

The onslaught of exclusive and high priced figures will not end. This guy is gorgeous, but it's getting harrowing trying to afford it all.

Stuff me plenty. This figure is not only sexy black, but it's windows are tinted red instead of the original blue. Definitely worth it's price, whatever it will be...

Love it. I want, but may swap the Autobot symbol for a Decepticon one.

Is it okay to be bitter that we aren't going to get any of these? :-(

Beautiful figure, but the mark up knocks out of my price range. I swear the mark up on exclusives is ridiculous for old molds. It is worth it for anybody to take the cheaper original figure and kitbash into said exclusive. Hell, in some cases you could even buy resin just to make copies of the original toy and still walk away with money in your wallet with some of these prices. Granted the starting cost is hefty, but once you spread it out across several figures, well, if you got the time and the skills, then who needs Botcon?

This isn't even bad for a Japanese Convention Exclusive, only around 2.3x the retail price of a Voyager, instead of the usual 5-6x
