The 2nd level boss in the Sega Saturn game Clockwork Knight, released in 1995 (94 in Japan) to be precise.

Here's a youtube vid of the boss in question.

for comparison, here's an image from the gallery of the red Japanese version of the toy, makes you wonder if they didn't choose red for that version just to match the boss...

I remembered the boss being Transformer like, but I hadn't played the game in over a decade, so when I finally dusted it off an popped it in, I just thought it was weird how much he looked like the toy that came out years later. I expected him to look more like g1 Starscream, or maybe Jetfire. I don't seriously mean to accuse Has/Tak of ripping it off, just made me go "hmmmm".

Pixar also "ripped off" the setting of the game (secret lives of toys when people aren't around) for Toy Story as did Square Enix for Kingdon Hearts - the protagonist's weapon is a key used like a sword. 8-}

Lol he does kinda look like him, but the red repaint wad done as a G1 homage, but now I kinda wish it was closer to that game as that robot looks freaking awesome!

Pixar didn't rip off the plot from that game for Toy Story, since Toy Story was originally going to be a sequel to Pixar's 1988 short "Tin Toy".

Be careful the baby is scary....
But Pixar did nick the idea of living toys from The Nutcracker and the Mouse king, which up and till now I didn't know was actually written by a German.... :lol:

That's why I put "ripped off" in quotes.
