Transformers reproduction methods?

I've been wondering about this ever since Beast Wars came out.Is there anything OFFICIALY official on this subject, considering the constant continuity abortion and reabortion?
According to schoolyard G1,where big brothers of play-pals had Street Machine articles on the latest wave of Transforming Car Toys and what-have-you, non-cartoon fluff of the day stated the TFs were robots built by an alien race that became extinct. The robotic shells lay dormant until an energy surge brought them back online.
The first G1's banded around the matrices, of which there were plenty, but one commanded all the rest, created only when Autobot survivors of Decepticon attacks on cities were left aimless and hiveless.Their new hive became the Autobot army.Up until then, the Autobots had to journey to the core of Cybertron and petition the Creator (Alpha Trion? Primus? I'm uncertain) to build each new TF according to the needs they described. They didn't always get exactly what they envisioned but each Transformer was a perfect creation for its' particular designation.
The G1 bots got fused into their altmodes, so if they could protoform before, they couldn't later. These Bots had the capability to install and remove Robot Brains/Memory chip type things into new bodies or uninhabited old bodies. I have the impression that the Robot Brains were invented before the Sparks were but am unsure. The Dinobots are the first Earth born Cybertronians/Cybertronian descendants and created by pure scientific replication.
The Pretenders were the first organic robots.I assume that these morphs were taken from a non-Cybertronian and non-Human species,so reproduction,if available, would have mimicked that species and therefore could be anything.
A line named the Action Masters first confirms the Transformers as truly alive. These Action figures sacrificed their abilities to Transform in order to become alive, and they had minicon type companions who transformed from animals to weaons, but could they reproduce?
The Beast Wars Saga first introduces transmutation,Fuzors and Protoforms (I think). In theory, the Cybertronian anatomy slowly re-remebers itself, and progressively converts from its' organic aspect to its' metal nature, slowly converting the Tfs into the Beast Machines and then the amalgamated anatomy R.I.D Cybertronians.Cloning,Sparks and Biometal become mainstay by now.
The Unicron Tricycle installs the creation myths of Unicron and Primus, introduces the Minicons ad confirms that some young Transformers are still around (Sideswipe,Hot Shot). So there is still a reproduction method somewhere.Old school program based upgrades are still around as well, as the gentle scientist,Jetfire,is now a bloodthirsty General.
The films confirm the presence of more births with the parentless twins, whilst the Decepticons are mass producing something they designate 'Hatchlings'. Are these Clones or test tube babies? The difference being one is grown from an egg in an artificial/foreign womb whilst the other is cultivated into a replica of the original genetic samples' donor in a vat.The insect hive/grapevine like layout of the nymph sacs is simply a reference to alien biological requirements so reveals nothing.
I'm assuming that TFs can divide at certain stages,(I don't know when, but guess right before they size up),generating an internal or external addition.
Internal could be triple changing ability, Soundwaves' Babies,a gestalt upgrade,a conversion from a material to an energy form (the 'transforming' virus in the 2007 movie).
External could be a twin (no comment), a drone (Omega Supreme Rocket section) a controllable sub-unit (Primes' Trailer,G1 Ratchet & Ironhides' warbuggies, Energon Landmines' lil' tank Crane),a plug-out (Turbomasters' turbines,Rotormasters' Rotors) or a plug-in (a Headmasters' body section,G1 Ultra Magnus' trailer)
These would somehow gather mass/weight until it's their turn to size up, then either upgrade themselves or continue to divide.(eg-the extra Tfs in G1 Primes' trailer).
Any thoughts? Any official news? I consider cartoons more official than comics, butthat's just me, and I do want to know what the Comics have said on the subject.
Thanks in advance to all replies.
