Is it to early to speculate on BOTCON 2011?

"Here we go again" is the thought crossing my mind while I'm typing. Last year the wait seemed to go on forever with the new online registration. By the time the event was actually open for registration, I felt like there were no surprises left. I knew almost every exclusive, event, and guest. What will this year be like? More delays, pirated figure previews, and wacky themes? Is it too much to hope for a NON-Movieverse themed boxset? Will I EVER get into a customizing class? If you have thoughts or suspicions, please share.

The movie designed are all licensed by Paramount, so the chance of seeing them repainted as convention or club exclusives is next to nothing. As for BotCon 2011, we have all tried speculating of what the theme and figures may be, to no avail. Other than that, expect more of the same.

Never considered Paramount licensing issues. With the release of Mindset and Fallback, I figured a mould is a mould and Hasbro could use it as they see fit.
With BOTCON being in Cali the boxed set is the make or breaker. If its ok, I'll go.

With my exeriences with Botcon, the Box set is way down there on my reasons for going. I go;
--For the friends
--For the Panels
--For the chance encounter with someone famous (got to sit beside Hideaki Yoke at lunch one day and thanked him personally)
--For the Dealer Room
If you go only for the toys, you could just stay home and get them on ebay for your travel/lodging/registration costs
If you don't like the toys, you can sell them on the after market and easily make back a lot of money.
Bottom line: if you can do it, go. You will not regret it.

Don't mistake me, I had a BLAST at Botcon in Orlando. It's my wife's hometown so we stayed with family. I fly for free (granted standby) thanks to a flight attendant sister. I made several life-long friends last June, but with a new job starting tommorrow, I can't take off alot of time like last year. I fell in love with Botcon exclusives and despise scalpers. If It is a good set, I will do a turn around trip and pick up all of the add ons. If it is not, then I will just have to miss it this year.

I gots a feeling this is gonna be a good set.
And yeah, I go anymore for the friends first, then the panels, then the toys. But yeah, the toys should be nice this year.

I hear ya. One of my closest friends now was a total stranger until the line standing events at this years BOTCON. The people are certainly a highlight, but with difficulty of going this year, it would be toys, no sleep, and turn around in the morning.
You got any idea what the theme is gonna be? You seem like someone in the know

I met my GF from this last Botcon. I also have met the best bunch of friends from Botcon. A lot of people here on this board especially. It's a good group and they do so much for me and I can only hope to return the favor and generosity. Flux Convoy actually got me a figure that I was looking for FOREVER as a BD present at the last con. Downshift sent as many Chevy Aveo Swerves out as he could find for FREE! FREE!!! I was one of the lucky ones to get one.
Let's just say that I'm very happy about this upcoming Botcon's Theme.

Plus, if you get me drunk enough, someone will push me into a potted plant.
Props to Disney for having shatter-proof glass tumblers.
(also, actually wasn't my fault. I thought it was. But everyone there was witness to me getting bodied)

Well I fly for free (taxes on the ticket) and I will likely get a second set of figures for "My Wife", NOT for a friend I made at botcon 2010 that recently had a baby girl and will not be able to go to Cali. If the figures and theme are movieverse, it's a pass. Now if it was close enough to drive to (as I am on the east coast) I would love to go this year regardless. Can't we get a Wreckers box set? Is it asking too much?
