What do you guys think is going to happen to transformers since this is the last movie that Bay is going to make.
Will they make a new toy line?
Will they make another animated series?
A new game?
Go back to making toys like they used to.you wish
So what do you guys think is going to happen?

With Hasbro nothing is off the table.
My guess is Hasbro waits a few years & does a reboot.
I'm kinda hoping we get a few DVD "only" released TF movies.

They've stated that once DOTM is over and done with, their attention will shift over to Transformers Prime and the Alligned Continuity.

Since Transformers is a toy-centric franchise I'd have to say yes.
botomb wrote:Will they make another animated series?
They have one going right now that they plan to keep going for a few years at least. And even if it ended this season, it probably wouldn't be more than a year or so before a new one took it's place. We've had a pretty steady stream of cartoons since Beast Wars, actually.
botomb wrote:A new game?
War for Cybertron 2 is already confirmed.
botomb wrote:Go back to making toys like they used to.you wish
Depends on what you mean by "Like they used to." Sure they don't use die-cast and rubber wheels anymore (Except for special occasions) but the actual designs and complexity of the toys has significantly improved since G1.
botomb wrote:So what do you guys think is going to happen?
All of the above.

Have they ever rebooted anything in TFs?
From what I gather, they're focusing on the Aligned continuity, as opposed to doing the typical direct-to-DVD crappy sequels for Movieverse.

With the brand being very healthy, I don't think we'll see any big change soon in the direction it's heading.
I am hoping to see less sublines. Those drive me n*ts. RTS, Generations, HftD, Prime, DOTM, ARGH.

I'm not sure what the future of TransFormers is, but so far...I like what I see.

It's more of a rudder, really.
But it does transform.

I'd rather see more Animated-related stuff. Animated is superior to Prime. Haters gonna hate.

Hopefully Hasbro wont release any more movies in theaters. They were great, but ive had enough of em. Maybe a DVD only release?

Well, I generally like what I see behind the movies curtains - the universe line has very impressing figures so far (hell, who'd have thought we'd ever get a Wreck-Gar or a Thunderwing?) and I think if the movie line dies down (there will be no doubt some small sub-lines remaining, bt the figures' needed designs are too complex to last in the mainstream for long) it's almost sure there will be new Universe figures.
As for the Prime line, the translation from animation to toy looks surprisingly well thought - the last time I saw something similar was the Animated line. I wouldn't be surprised if the show would last 2-3 seasons more at least, maybe even a movie if it is succesful.
What I don't want is another live-action movie. If DotM is succesful, there could be a movie 4, but I wouldn't bet on it, and even less likely on a rebooted movie-verse. Although prequels are possible, like in the X-men universe (they went too far there to simply reboot, too)
Comics: I don't know... Maybe if a potent writer like Roché or Furman, who can see through a whole universe with all the stories opened rather than marching after their own head, would take the wheel, the IDW-verse could be saved, but if they continue like this I don't see a very bright future there.

Hasbro will find themselves another Hollywood director to feed to the dogs and spit out profits, since Bay's pretty tuckered out.
Of course, the Prime continuity will continue for a few years 'til we all get bored. Then they'll make another animated series with toys to go along with it.
We'll get GeeWun stuff galore (but it won't be ENOUGH for most)...but the Beast Era, RID, and Unicron Trilogy will remain forgotten. They'll continue the current classics theme until it proves less profitable and they take the nostalgic stuff in another direction, possibly in reissues.
Transformers will eventually not bring adequate profits and will be axed by Hasbro. Estimated TF armageddon: 30 years

If they do make more movies, I hope they get Nolan to direct them! that would be amazing

War for Cybertron and TF: Prime. Don't ask how, they fit just as terribly together as they do with everything else.

There'll be more movies, I'm sure. The first two between them have already made ridiculous amounts of money - Paramount (and Hasbro) would be utterly foolish to let that gravy train go; besides, it's not hardcore TF fans that are fueling the success of these movies anyway - it's the casuals, the GAs, the folks who pay strictly to see two hours of belly shirts and stuff gettin' blowed up real good. It might be a couple or so years before they can convince someone else looking for a sizable paycheck to take the reins, though - and I wouldn't get my hopes up on a filmmaker of a better caliber than Bay (at least as far as popcorn flicks go) taking over.
Also, between the increasingly-erratic broadcast schedule of new episodes and the relative lack of any merchandise surrounding it as there has been with past shows, I don't know if PRIME's gonna last as long as Hasbro's hoping in spite of my own affection for it (and I do love it), but that won't stop them from making more shows in the future - and again, I wouldn't get built up with the hope that they'll just dodder on back to a previous continuity; I'm more than content to see any revisitations of G1 relegated strictly to filler toy lines like Classics/Universe/Generations/etc., and the comics. On that note, I'm sure the comics will also keep going in spite of their flaws, too, in some form.
Still, what I WOULD like to see is a TF continuity that's NOT already effed up before it's even been released. Seriously, Hasbro, after nearly three decades, it's really that hard for the left hand to know what the right's doing? Good grief.

If done properly & given decent advertising commericials. I think direct to DVD TF movies would work.
Examples of some decent Direct to Video TF movies.
A TF Prime Animated movie. similar in vein to the beastwars 2nd movie & those dragon ball Z movies. their'd be this huge & powerful decepticon arrive on earth. lets just call him overlord. overlord would have a short light fight with megatron & temporaly bury him under a rocks, where megatron stays until he digs himself out at the end of the movie. overlord could arrive on earth with new villians decepticons that the autobots fight. their could be a huge battle between prime & overlord where prime wins. it would be a self contained movie that ends in a way that it has zero effect on the TF Prime cartoon episodes plot/arcs.
Release a WAR for cybertron 2 video game. then months later release a war for cybertron direct to video DVD movie. it'll be a completly different story plot than the video game. basically it'll be a prequel movie or after story movie.
a classics/generations/RTS direct to video movie. basically with all the generations/rts/classics toys getting a origin story, plot & epic battles. I suspose their could be several Direct to video Movies of this that add chapters in the battle/stories. similar to what those land before time dinosaurs movies do on direct to video.
Beastwars Revisted. a new generation of maximals & predacons that were left behind in statis pods from the beastwars. wake up in the ice age,the time peiod be man evolved, thus no humans in this movie.

Animated is the SD Gundam of the TransFormers universe.
We burn the evidence and take a vow of silence, murder the people at hasbro that OKed that blasphemy and move on as if it never existed.
At least SD Gundam didn't get a freakin sequel...

Actually I like Animated, as did many people.

Animated was fairly good. Its animation was weird at first, but it was amazing how well the models were translated to figures.
Now if the movie-verse models, that are supposed to be more realistic, would have at least that faithful figures...

Like many said before, they probably have another season or two of TF Prime waiting for us, which I don't mind.
After that I hope that they will start a new beast era, focussing on the period of the Great Upgrade of Autobots and Decepticons to Maximals and Predacons.
(ps: First post

I'm starting to enjoy the Prime series a bit. I'm glad there's a decent show on since Animated was over (was not too happy about that, as it's my favorite series). The ongoing comics has gotten pretty good lately. I've enjoyed most stuff coming out with the exception of HoD.
I too find it hard to believe that more movies won't get made. Maybe it'll go the way of Spiderman and get rebooted with a different creative team. I'm ok with that.
And that crashed Camaro sig...ouch. I hate seeing those totalled. And hey, new guy!

Well after the success of DOTM which has earned even more than ROTF did in it's entire run in theaters I'd say we're bound to have movies until one absolutely bombs (which isn't a bad thing) I know we've got WFC 2 coming as well and TF Prime. I think they should focus on advertising Prime now being that it may be a few years (3-4 I'd guess) before we get another movie. You don't see Prime much anywhere outside of the Hub like you did Animated. That stuff was everywhere! Maybe when the toys release they'll ramp it up. What I really want to see is a prequel (so to speak) of the films involving the Beast Wars. Can you imagine, Beast Wars done in the same way. They have the technology- it would be EPIC!!!
