Love Or Hate? PCC

I a 50/50 on them, I mean my Mudslinger just broke a couple of days ago! (Stupid leg joints. :-x ) But I love the concept of cheaper combiners that you can ‘Scramble’ (as in ‘Scramble city’) and drones you can have as individual guys or as just drones. Also they did do one good thing: They brought us a Dinobot combiner! And I have been thirsting for one for a long time, as well as bringing the old word ‘Destron’ back into the world.

So this thread is a start in the new line of threads by the great and glorious Godzillabot!

Love Or Hate?

I think they are okay. I don't own any (yet... but I'm only buying Icepick so I can steal Chainclaw to act as Scourge's Fracas) but if I had kids I could see myself buying these for them. The transformations look simple enough, and the added fun of combining them would have appealed to me as a kid. I love that the Mini-cons can act as armour, weapon, or robot... I only wish they sold extra Mini-con and Drone sets seperately so that if you bought a two pack (like Icepick + Chainclaw) you could get drone for them without having to buy another commander figure and steal his.

So I guess I'm on the fence. Neat idea, not something that I would collect, but perfect for kids. Overall though: win.

Well they are quite good! The main disadvantage of the commander figures are the heads, they exceedingly small! So to remedy the tiny head: flip the bigger head up.

So my Icepick and Chainclaw finally showed up, and you know what, Icepick ain't that bad!

I'm still stealing chainclaw to be my Fracas for Scourge, but Icepick is a pretty decent figure for his price point, and you are right, flipping up the bigger head looks much better! Now I'm tempted to buy a Smoulder and Chopster so I can give my Armada Supercon Prime and axe... ;)

Smolder is a very good figure in its self, be forewarned Chopsters handle does not stay strait when in axe mode! Otherwise they're great fig's!

PS. Smolder is the most least tip overible TF I have :D

I've got two five packs and two two-packs. Overall, I prefer the two packs. I enjoy the minicons as Robot, robot weapon, vehicle weapon, and robot armor. Both five packs fully assembled have issues standing, which bothers me. I agree with Autobot strider, seperately sold minicons and drones would be an improvement.

Chopster, btw, is a pretty fantastic scout IMO.

Love the figures and concepts, loathe the QC and distribution issues.

PCCs gave us unusual alt modes, particularly the Dinobots and Constructicons. Hopefully not the last time we see these alts, especially since many of the coolest ones did not have bot modes.
I hope they continue and evolve PCCs. The later waves were really good (from what I can tell, I could not find most of them), can only imagine how much better they'd get.
**Minicons being gang-molded with their original partners means there IS a red Ice Pick (from Bomb-Burst) and a purple Pinpoint (from Over-Run)**

I found the PCC line a nice experiment to be honest. A sideline focusing on 2 gimmicks, max, it turned out really interesting. The only major miss was Double Clutch and his Rallybots with the lousy QC, but it showed Hasbro's willingness to correct those errors.

They may not be "combiners" by our standards despite the name, more like Super Modes, and every single figure has one. Had they been called something other than "Combiners", I think the fandom wouldn't have whined so much. ;)

Who I consider the star of the line? Bombshock along with Grimstone. There's just something about army vehicles and dinosaurs...

I don't like them mainly due to the wasted potential. They sacrificed articulation on a dumb auto transforming gimmick which bothers me the most. I would have rather seen the drones have unique features for the combined mode. Each set of drones could fit a theme, like one set of military vehicles that transform into limbs that are loaded with firepower. Or a set of rescue vehicles that have medical accessories stored inside them. There's huge potential in something like that. Also being bigger would have been nice.

I only bought Huffer. He has a nice easy transformation and he fits in nicely with my classics. I think the idea of them was good but the figures themselves didn't jump out at me.

The same for me! I also wanted to say that Sledge is another good figure, if you’re looking for a mechanical beast of burden for you to use as a Constructicon, or Mine-Drone, you will not be disappointed
