As their bios state, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are considered to be brothers as a result of both being Lamborghini Countaches, but Red Alert and Breakdown are both Countaches as well, and do not share this bond.

Perhaps that's why they're both paranoid nutcases- they've been excommunicated from the family.

Red Alert and Sunstreaker should be brothers. Sideswipe's way cooler than the two of them.

things like that change all the time like in G1, Prime and Magnus are friends but in RID their bros. just depends on the script.

Red Alert is too awesome for them. Think about it. If you were as awesome as Red Alert, would you want to be related to that tool Sunstreaker?

Why aren't Prowl and Bluestreaker brothers,too?

What is made is made... Red Alert must have got rejected... sorry RA fans... lolz just kidding. honestly I have no idea but I have read about this in the Wikipedia once strange...

My guess is, they ARE brothers. It's just, you know, when you're the cool kids in class, you don't openly claim the "weird" brother. Or maybe Red disowned them both after they caused too much trouble on his security job. Not as bad as Jazz and Stepper/Richochet... now there be a disfunctional family.

In all seriousness, though, I like the DW explanation... when they were sparked, one spark split into two, and thus you have the whole "brother" thing. It's supposed to be rare, but gave Shockwave the idea for the clones. Works as well as any, I'd think.

Yeah I prefer that explanation it makes more sense than anyone with the same alt mode is a brother as alt modes can be changed. Would they stop being brothers if one of them changed alt mode? would another TF become their brother if he changed his to a Lamborghini Countache?

I always thought it was because both Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were season 1 characters with the same alt mode, thus it was easy for the writers to call them brothers.

Red Alert came along much later, thus missed out on being a brother.

Being brothers is not because of having the same alt. mode it is being created/built by the same being. Like in RID, Prime and Magnus are brothers because Alpha Trion built them both at the same time.

Pretty much sums up what I think on the matter (and shockingly enough, I agree with KoH4711). Because if you go by the "alt mode similarities makes everyone family" theory, then you've got the triplet set of Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokescreen because they've all got chevrons on their helms and doorwings with similar transformations. And then the two sets of Seeker triplets to add to that.
