Post TF movie Depression

I have a big question for all of you to think about. What are we going to do AFTER the movie comes out next week? I mean, we have been waiting on this since last summer. There won't be any new type of 'stimuli' until next year when the children's cartoon comes out, and it is going to obviously be for little kids only. It will be 2 to 3 years before Bay gets TF part 2 done. And this new resurgence in TF mania is driving the price of the old bots into orbit so it's going to be harder to buy them. What are we gonna do guys? It probably sounds harsh but it is a reality. We are finally getting a live action film after 23 years of devotion and now it will soon be over. I don't know about you guys but I'm going to take a break from ebay till the 'waters calm down' and try to concentrate on more fanfictions. How about you guys? How are you going to deal with the upcoming absence of TF 'stimuli', for lack of a better word? Take care.

Last summer?! Naff off, most have been following the movie a lot longer than that. In fact that's about when I stopped regularly checking the Murphy boards...

Anyway, to the topic: We'll see how the cartoon goes. I have a feeling it's not going to be anywhere near as bad as a large proportion of our fellows seem to "know" it will. But even if it is, odds are there'll be reruns, and IDW are still producing the comics.
Meanwhile, I can carry on with my kitbashing...

I plan to crank out some serious fanfiction.

If it gets bad I'll kill myself and have my toys donated on to other more desperate TransFans. Failing that I might go out and get a life.

:P Seriously, if this is going to be REALLY bad for some of you, then you need to get out more. We all have lives beyond Transformers. The movie will be the climax for that obsession, the ultimate feast to sate it, after that we can get back to our lives. And do it over when Bay gets round to TF2.

I think I'll end up selling my collection. Or displaying it in my son's TF themed room. That's more likely. I'm thinking about calming down on the collecting for a bit. In fact I'll be busy learning new stuff at work and won't get to me on here much.

what is going to happen after the movie comes out? we go to the movie theater 100 times. after it leaves the theater? we go buy it on DVD. after it is out on DVD & nothing new is happening?

well as a person who is a big Star Wars / Transformers fan, I'd like to see Transformer fans doing more than just spending time online.

Star Wars fans raised $170,000 for Make-A-Wish last month. http://www.starwars.com/community/event ... 70614.html

This is after there will NEVER be a movie again, just a promise of TV shows. the fans are keeping the franchise alive w/ their credit cards & their creativity.

I think it would be amazing if TF fans started doing local fundraising activities like many SW fans do. It would take a lot of work, but when will TF be as popular as it is right now?

live the lessons we love to watch of good vs evil

That is one reason for us brits to gloat as we still have to wait a month for the movie so we will still have stuff to live for whilst all the yanks will be depressed and bored because they have already seen it. HAR HAR!

I'll seclude myself in a Dao temple in the far east and work on my martial arts.

I'll be pretty relieved when there will be no more movie promotions for a while. I need to get my blood pressure down.

Once the movie is over, you can all go back and watch all of G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Armada, Energon and Cybertron and contrast and compare stories, backgrounds and characters.

Read the comics, Marvel, Titan, DW, IDW.

Pretty much what most fans have been doing since they first got into the hobby.

I won't get really that depressed. After all there is good fanfiction to read and comics to come out, plus stuff on Youtube.

And there is a very good chance Mr. Bay will get a bad case of sequelitis and want to make a Tf Movie #2. It seems to be somewhat rare nowadays that a movie doesn't has a sequel or a spinoff series. Especially one of these type of movies.

Ive seen the film now, and I can say you wont be depressed after watching it, you will more than likely want to see it a few more times. Then wait for the DVD with extra features.

Then wait for the 4 disc edition.

Cartoon should be out by then.

Start waitin' for Transformers 2, of course.

And get around to some intense kitbashing.

I also have to work on my vocals becuase i will be singing with my band while playing base.We also have to decide if we are going to stick with visual kei or go into oshare kei ...... We also have to get a new japanese drummer scence sadly ares left do to family related reasons. So i have my time booked after the movie.

In regards to Transformers? Probably just keep up with the IDW stuff whenever convenient, pick up some more G1 Robot Heroes as they become available. That's about it.

I've got teaching in the fall to worry about, I'm starting up a few new writing projects (and maybe even submit a pitch or two someplace!), and there are always my various music ensembles. Guess I don't revolve around TFs as much as other people do...

But hey, who knows. Maybe someone'll give us reason to get worked-up in a frenzy all over again...

I'll probably do a whole lot of what I was doing between the G1 cartoon and the move: Having a life.

I don't understand the question, because I lived in the era post-G1, pre-G2, with absolutley NO NEW TF things of any kind coming in-comics, shows, figures, etc. for YEARS.

I would call Hasbro HQ every few months, asking for ANY info, any clue of a resurection. NOTHING. For YEARS.

You want to know depression? Try following a "dead" series of toys, comics and cartoon for a few years, then get back with me.

Post-movie depression? Yeah, whatever. This is the second golden era for all TF fans. There will be PLENTY to collect or contribute to our hobby.
