I've made a list of characters from each series who have changed their names along with an upgrade. (Please add to this list if you see I've missed any. Note: Just adding something to the exsisting name like Crumplezone and Dark Crumplezone doesn't count.)

You know I'm really not sure. I've just heard it a lot, and Dion is the other toy packaged with Orion Pax in that repaint set of Kup (Orion) and Wheelie (Dion) I believe. I'm not sure it's canon, certainly didn't get a mention in G1, really don't know where it came from but... Feh.


And to Xephon, who I've not seen on the boards before. Is your username an allusion to Zephon?

Well, if we are counting fused, whynot include Ratchet and Megatron in the Marvel Comix line? I know that they did get separated, but at what cost?

On second thought, they didn't have a combined name, just a mess of robots. So they probably don't count.

And to Meverix. I thought that I heard that UM and OP were brothers, from the same model. But if Prime was an upgrade from Orion Pax, maybe UM is from Dion?

Nope, its an allusion to the anime series RahXephon.

We're not useing Japanese continuim the simple reason being it'd make the list WAY too long. The Japanese do this kind of thing all the time just like the US allways reuse names. It's verry rare that the US will change a character's name and the Japanese will reuse a name.

As much as I'd like to belive Dion was rebuilt I think it was confermed that Dion was damaged beyond the ability to be rebuilt. In other words he's dead.

Guiltar is not the same character as Optimus and Megatron. He's a completly different character that was designed with some simular features as the 2 of them.

Tigerhawk is different. The Vok actully fused the sparks from Tigatron and Airrazor togeather to create Tigerhawk. That isn't how Guiltar was created.

The only reason The Sweeps and "His Armada" are not listed is because technically they were never given names. Only Scourge, Cyclonus, and Galvatron himself can really be considered name changes. The rest of the bots upgraded with them were turned into mindless drones as far as I can tell.

Of course if you can find anything cannon to show they did have names then we can count them. As far as I know though they're just a groups of drones called Sweeps and Armada.
