Yeah, yeah, I'm listening, guys.

Regarding who to repurpose Generations Air Raid as, Fireflight. His bio is totally for Fireflight and nothing like Air Raid. Plus, he was originally solicited as Fireflight, but the name was changed at the last second likely due to that name being unavailable (also considering that the Kreon based on Fireflight got renamed "Firestrike"). ;)

Regarding Kickback's weapon in bug mode, this guy on Allspark.com found a way to store it in bug mode.

Regarding Generations Skywarp, this figure as is is very game-accurate. The problem is that his gunmetal gray needs to be more black in a lot of places. but, this color layout as is is very game-accurate. Though, there's no purple Rainmaker, just a dark cyan one. There ARE, however, purple generic seekers that this one could resemble. :-B

The Deluxe Insecticons weren't Marvel (or UK) either. IIRC, they've only been in the Dreamwave Micromaster mini-series.

Even though it was just you two, this podcast was a fun one. Now, let's see CP do a podcast solo. :P

Good show with just the two of you

Redefing myself as a collector.

hoping to get a few Prime toys for Xmas, Silas Breakdown, Nemises Prime, Terrorcon Bumblebee, now I just need to find a place for them.

so Happy Holidays and hoping for a great new year

Enjoyed it guys! Wish I had been available to join in, maybe one of these days I'll tag along to dull the wit ;) It would've been bad timing though, my Bragging Rights for the last two weeks are freakin' unfair ridiculous and everyone would've turned off the 'cast at that point.

I share the enthusiasm for Blaster. I just got Soundwave/Soundblaster today and the mold is super freakin' cool, but I really feel like it'll make a much better Blaster.

Bob's opinion of Kickback has taken me from the "looking forward to it" point to "aww, damn" point rather quickly. A shame to hear it's so bad, because it looks pretty cool in pictures.

I hope the Machine Wars theme realizes its potential. I really wanna see that FoC Starscream mold in there as Megaplex!

Autobots:
Optimus Prime: Energon Rodimus
Sandstorm: Energon Bulkhead
Mirage: Classics Mirage (possibly Energon)
Prowl: Classics Mirage (possibly Energon)
Hoist: Energon Inferno
Hubcap: Energon Roadblock

I'm thinking that the reason Botcon and SDCC are so close together (both geographically and temporally) is due to some big TF Movie news that they're going to share and they want it to be consistent/around the same time for the dedicated TF fanbase as well as the much wider SDCC audience (who will actually have TV coverage a-la G4 etc.).

I just have to chime in as someone who worked at Kay Bee when the Machine Wars was released, and say that they weren't grossly overpriced. In fact it was the exact opposite.

I remember to this day these jokers first coming in and right off the bat they had the red marked down cost stickers attached to them. They were never released at whatever the full retail sticker price was under the red price reduction.

My old job had to book statewide events at a convention center... and they're booked up sometimes seven (or more) years in advance.

With Botcon getting bigger each year, and with them (apparently) scrambling to book late in the game each year — I'm sure it's a challenge to just find ANY spot to fit the bill... regardless of actual state. I'm guessing they take what they can get.

And I AM sure they take into consideration the convenience for fans on each coast — or in the middle like myself — but the other factors HAVE to play a huge role. too: rental price, availability, size of facilities, proximity to food and lodging, safety of the location (especially since there are lots of kids), etc.

As for me, I hate it being on either coast. The congestion makes it difficult getting around, and hotel and transportation pricing is inflated. Times when it's been centrally located have been much nicer experiences, and kept it from shutting out people on one coast or another. It's a good compromise, I think.

If they kept it rotating between Chicago, St. Paul, and Texas I'd be great with it. :-?

Wait. Botcon Ratchet as a haul, that's awesome. The only Funpub Botcon figure I still need and I admit my jealousy. Replacing The Henkei figures with those though? I love you guys but those 05 versions are awful comparatively. The head sculpts alone are enough to sway me towards anything but those as good representations of the characters.

Looking forward to cracking open the new FansProject bugs and Assaulter myself. Another good show guys.

Yeah, I keep remembering that as a lackluster year for BotCon, but there really were some of my favorite exclusives that year. I loved Ratchet and Ironhide, plus the Arcee bike repaints were fantastic.

Agreed, great purchase with Ratchet.

I'd be cool with this...One's my home town and one's my in-law's and within driving distance...I could deal with 2 outta 3 locations being convenient. Sounds like Chicago is pretty ridiculously expensive, though.

Wasn't CP going to spell out his thoughts of iGear's Van Bros? That ever happen? Based on the BotCon Ratchet acquisition, sounds like it's clear they're not what he considers Classics anyhow...

On the topic of how awesome the Dreadwing/Skyquake mold is awesome thread: Picture this: reapainted as jetfire in G1 red and white and then you could do a slight modification on him to give him the Energon head. TF Prime Jetfire. I have been hunting for a 2nd Dreadwing at the 19.99 price point they are at on Hasbrotoyshop when they show up. I missed it last week... but when I do I will try my first repaint. If it is a success I'll figure out how to mold a new face mask.

Or if there is a customizer out there that likes my idea and has an extra copy of the mold lying around... I'd commission the heck out of that.

I didn't attend 05 as 06 was my first. I do have all but Ratchet from the set though. Most I got either free or at a steal. I actually really like all the figures. For their time, Ratchet and Ironhide were great homages. At a time when homages were pretty much the only G1 thing we were getting, it was a cool thing. That mold just never did anything for me. The head sculpts hardly look like either character they're meant to as either. That's why I keep the Henkei versions in my display. They aren't great but they're better than the 05 versions. I keep my fingers crossed we get better ones eventually.

Well, I own the Classics and Botcon version... and I still have to say the iGear trumps them both for G1 accuracy. But I digress.

What are the chances that the Venom homage that everyone is clamoring for is this?

Toys for Tots Donation & FansProject Function X-1 Mystery Figure (Preorders End December 17th) that was up on Big Bad?

They released details about it being a ground vehicle and having double weapons. I'm guessing it's either the official release of Chromedome... or an exclusive repaint of him. You can also see his head on the packaging.

ahhhh yes. I looked at that the other night and thought, "oh, it's Chromedome" but had a few cocktails in me. And forgot completely about the box art while I was listening to the podcast (with a few beers in me).

And I don't recall hearing any of you mentioning Phantom in your bragging rights. Has anyone else picked up this figure? Personally I think he's awesome... the plastic quality feels slightly scary in some of the peg areas, but overall it's an outstanding figure. Nice big jet mode and his arm mode fires me up for the fully combined gestalt.

Planning on whipping up a stop motion with him this weekend if time allows. Probably using this same crew to make scale pop. https://vimeo.com/53984298

I keep forgetting to do that because I am dumb as hell.

Mine is ordered but I got him in a package deal at TFSource, so I won't have him until the second one is released.

Re, the convention. Ifchicago is too pricey, INDIANAPOLIS is a stone's throw away and probably muchos cheeper.

Foc grimmy being three peer case: I WANT BLASTER DAMMIT!!!!!

Razorclaw: the plastic thinnes is an issue we have in model trains as well. While annoying,it doesn't take much for plastic of a light color to bleed through. I saw what you saw and cringed too, but its really not a plastic problem. When i get mine, his head is OFF... So i can silver paint the inside of his head. Problem solved...

New pod cast? Seems like they are getting spaced out longer after every show.

We were on break with the holidays but are now having some small technical difficulties with the current file. We hope to have it posted today or tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
