Speed of Seibertron.com ... how's it loading for you?

I've made a ton of changes to the server over the past few weeks. I think I've finally got it to a good point. I'm satisfied with the load average of the server, the performance on the page loads on various devices (Android cell phone, iPad, Kindle, and my wife's iPhone), and the overall performance of the site in general.

How's Seibertron.com loading for you right now?
Any problems that you've noticed after 5pm on August 31st?
Is it running fast for you?
How fast is it loading on your mobile devices?

You should be seeing very fast load times which you can verify in the footer. You should see some text that says something like "This page loaded in 0.26148 seconds"

To those of you who have suffered through some of the server changes over the past week or two, thank you for your patience while I implemented these fixes and changes. I appreciate all of you sticking by Seibertron.com during this time.

Let me know if you are having any problems. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, everything loads pretty quickly, for me - except the border image, which reloads slowly with every page.

Firefox 23.0.1 by the way.

By "border image" are you referring to the Metroplex background image? If so ... how is it loading for you now? I added some cache settings to the new image subdomain for Seibertron.com. It should cache all images served from the image subdomain for 1 week now.

Yes, I did. And it's loading a LOT faster, now, thanks!

Using Chrome on my home computer (0.10234 seconds), and Safari on iPhone5 (0.3205 seconds), both are loading very efficiently now. I was regularly experiencing lag in loading the site, or even encountering page load errors previously. Knew something was going on. Thx, Seibs!

Great work Ryan.

loading speed would be a lot better if I didn't have to take into consideration the 4 or 5 pages I have to go through every time your "log me in automatically" button fails to do anything. at all. EVERY GDAMN TIME.

the pictures in posts and signatures are not showing up on my smart phone anymore. I have to click on links to see them.

If you login to your account on your smart phone, you will see the images. You must be logged in to view images directly now.

It works. There appears to be a problem with your cookies. Try logging out, closing your browser completely, then coming back, logging in and giving it a try again. If that doesn't solve the problem, you might need to remove your browser's cookies and go through the same process again. If that doesn't work, check out Seibertron.com in a different browser to see if you have the same problem in a different browser.

I changed the name of the cookie last week which caused some users to experience the same problem as you (myself included). Going through the steps above resolved the problem for myself.

It's loading perfectly on my laptop.

Sometimes I use my Playstation Vita to visit the internet and Seibertron.com even loads quickly on that thing too.

It used to be dog slow for me most of the time, but I have noticed it is usually MUCH better recently so whatever you did seems to have worked wonders :).

For the last few days, although it's fast, frequently it's down. And when I check www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com it shows it's not just me.

Next time it happens I'll take a screen cap.

It has occasionally done the same for me.

Any chance you have a screen shot of when it has been down?

I'm not sure this is necessarily the problem. The "log me in automatically" thing has never worked for me. Ever. And I've never seen any indication that restarting or clearing cookies, both of which I do now and then anyway, has any impact on that. I just figured it was another permabug and didn't care enough to look further. I'll also echo the sentiments on the multiple page login process--plus clicking the "return me to the previous page" link often just dumps me back at the main forum index page, instead of the thread I was on or trying to respond to when I got prompted to log in. All in all, it seems like posting anything ends up being a much bigger hassle than necessary.

Loading time lately seems pretty much the same as before. I see a bunch of images first (starting with metroplex nowadays) and after a few seconds the rest of the page shows up. From what I can tell the graphics are and probably always have been the biggest drain on speed.

If it has never worked for you, ever, then it most likely is an issue with your local setup. It works fine in all 5 of the latest most popular Internet browsers on this laptop (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari, and Opera), the browsers on my other laptop, on my Android HTC One, my wife's iPhone, our iPad, and on our Kindle.

It would be very helpful if those of you having trouble would provide as much information as possible about your local environment to help us rule out issues or discover potential problems.

1. What operating system and which version are you using? (i.e. Windows 8)

2. Which browser and which version are you using? (i.e. Google Chrome Version 29.0.1547.66 m)

3. What is your internet speed? You can find this by going to http://www.speedtest.net/ and running the tests on that page. (i.e. my download speed is currently 14.61 Mbs and my upload speed is currently 14.42 Mbs)

4. Have you tried using other browsers?

5. Do you have any problems with other sites that you frequently visit and use in a manner similar to Seibertron.com (such as a website that you want to be logged in permanently to, for example).

If you are on a fast internet connection, graphics shouldn't be a big drain on the speed of the site. Most, if not all, of the images on this site will cache on your local computer. The background image should stay cached on your computer for up to 1 year meaning that it never needs to download during that time, which points to a possible issue with something in your local environment.

Please provide the additional information above to help us figure out what issues you are having with Seibertron.com. Thanks.

I've noticed the site loads much faster now on my phone!

Edit: I changed the name of my phone to just "phone" as the site changed the name of my phone to "stop selling your junk". Thought I was losing my mind for a minute!

the forums look awful on Chrome (my preferred browser on PC) for some reason:

A typical comment including text body, sig and tech specs as chrome is currently displaying:

A typical subforum:

What is strange is the site loads perfectly in Internet Explorer.

Please click undo:D

And now to get Meta, here is this very post, as viewed in IE:

I made some additional changes to the site today during the past 14 hours to help speed up the site even further and to optimize it some more to gain a higher score on the websites that score the speed of other websites. Your browser doesn't have the most current version of the site's stylesheets. Try refreshing the page again so that it grabs the latest style sheet. It might take you a few times to get it corrected but that's what the problem is (I had the same problem on my Android phone earlier) and I use Chrome as my primary browser on my laptop. In Chrome, you can force your browser to get the latest style sheet by clicking on SHIFT + F5.

Done! Everything is looking great and formatting as normal, and blindingly fast!

At first i didn't like having to log in to view images but I completely understand the reasoning and I'm finding that I am posting and replying in threads more often because of the change! good on ya :D
