How would you feel about Barricade and Blackout being retroactively added to the G1 continuity?

Don't worry, folks: The following post is Movie spoiler free. Decided to place it in this forum as it theoretically covers toys and comic books.

See topic title. I've been thinking about this over the last few days after seeing the movie twice, and playing the game a whole lot.

Personally, I wouldn't mind it much, their appearances of course would have to be redesigned for G1.

Toy-wise, if they were decent retools I think it would be pretty awesome; I can picture Blackout as a retooled Springer perhaps (as long as you don't mind him being a triple-changer :P), but I can't help but think that Barricade should get a little more than the obvious mere Prowl repaint. Ideas?

And I'd love to see them in a comic continuity of some sort; despite the fact that Soundwave was always portrayed as being very loyal to Megatron in the cartoon, his original toy bio had him as a blackmailer out for self. Would be nice to have a big-name character about who really was as fanatically loyal as Blackout was in the movie continuity; seeing as how Blackout was going to be Soundwave at one point, it might make for an interesting relationship between the two; I picture Blackout as being very distrustful of Soundwave. :D

Heck, the more I think about it, the more I have an urge to run off and do some G1 stylized sketches!

I think it sounds cool. I'am a bit of a drawer myself so I'll do G1 style drawings of Barricade and Blackout based on thier movie designs.

Sorry about the double post, but I had to inquire about thier personalities.

Based on how Barricade questioned Sam, I think he would be an interrogator, someone to retrieve information from his targets by the quickest means: by playing the bad cop. I also think that he and Prowl would be rivals, a police car vs. police car rivalry. As for Blackout, let's go with more than untrusting Soundwave, but as competition, with Blackout trying to replace Soundwave as Megatron's right hand man. What do you think?

I was going to say that they were both Micromasters, and well, lost of those names get lost, and many do not know who most of them are.

I like the Barricade bit a lot; it strikes me that Laserbeak was supposed to be the interrogator for the Deceps, but was always used for espionage as far as I recall. And Blackout vs. Soundwave just might work..heck, it's a situation where I could foresee Screamer playing the two off against each other, mwaha!

Ehh, that's debatable; I'd consider that to be a case of "What's in a name", so to speak. The original G1 Blackout was no less than one half of a jet, and was apparently a coward, a far, far cry from the Movie Blackout. Likewise, Barricade was the leader of the micromaster Race Track patrol with a hard-assed attitude. Personality-wise, they're both very unlike the movie characters; this isn't simply a case of utilizing their base forms and/or personalities and running with them, as was done with other characters like Ironhide and Ratchet. Those names were just pretty well placed onto new characters (the Soundwave/Blackout design notwithstanding). A name alone does not an incarnation make, I'd say.

Eh, everyone despises neo-G1 characters, such as Sunstorm.

They have their own continuity, and it should be expanded.

*Raises Hand* I liked Sunstorm, so no, not everyone hates Sunstorm. And Yeah, just slap Barricade and Blackout into some G1 Media or something, and bam, G1 Continuity. I wouldn't mind, they'd fit right in. I mean, there aren't enough G1 Decepticons with their own personalities anyways.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a Decepticon Police car named Barricade in any future TF lines. 8)

:-x NO.

Movie characters cannot and should not mixed with the orginals. Sunstorm and is his like are different. They are like the g1 line never ended. I have even gone so far as to add energon Arcee to my line up. Of course the minute they come out with a better version her A*^ is out. I can even accept that some people connect the orginal to RID and Energon/Cybertron.

Leave the movie to it's own universe. Which is the only place the movie belongs.

I also like Sunstorm

However I think they shouldn't ever get added to G1, as the movie is its own continuity.

Well, it'd be cool, but since they already exist as different individuals in G1, I'm atisfied with A pave lowe and Kick Total Ass Saleen S281.

No we don't.

Would love to see an E-hobby repaint of Prowl as Barricade.

I like Sunstorm as he was described in his bio, I just don't like how he was implemented in the DW comics.

As for adding them to G1... Well, I'd assume that this would be in a new continuity that's based on and mainly G1 right? Personally I don't mind using characters from different generations in a new continuity. If you mean having an entirely G1 continuity/continuation and inserting just those 2... Don't particularly like that.

There were like what, millions of Transformers in the Cybertronian civil war?

I think we can find a place for two more.
