Today, my mum and I were looking around eBay for TFs and yelled out "I want that Megatron!" and pointed to the Heroes G2 one, she got me into TF when I was little, and buys me most of mine, but I had to ask "Why?" and she answered "Because Megs and Galvy are sexy" this... scared me a bit XP but has anyone else got their parents into TF? Oh, and she loves the Megatron Rules! Sticker XD

I am not flaming and of course this is a valid topic, BUT....
....U reeaaallly should share this sorta stuff.
"Today, my mum and I were looking around eBay" that sounds just a little creepy and more than a little geeky. I dont mean to offend its just the way it appears. Kinda Norman Bates-ish
On the other hand i have nurtured a love of transformers in my son-so that sorta fits the topic

Not really. If people don't want to come off sounding like geeks then they probably shouldn't hang out on Transformers message boards.
However, the "Megatron is sexy!" is pretty funny. And if he gets free toys out of the deal . . . even better.
My Mom doesn't understand Transformers, but she did buy me my Beast Wars Metals X9 Jaguar for Christmas in 2004.

It took my parents a while but they finally got it. My dad collected toy trains and used to paint miniature Napoleonic figures, and my mom collects intricate music boxes. It took them a while, but eventually they realized there wasn't much of a difference.

For the past 3 Christmas's, my parents bought a nice chunk of Unicron Trilogy figures. They think it's great that I have something I'm passionate about.
Plus, their hooking me up with some extra cash to take to Botcon this year.
Top that!

When I was starting to get in Armada, my mom bought me the G1 movie DVD. I've been a G1 fan ever since!

A few years back, I sat down with my mom and showed her "The Key to Vector Sigma 1 & 2", and she liked it.

Dude, my mom has surprised me on so many occasions. Like, this one time, we were at Wal-Mart, and she sees the Classics Bumblbee on the shelf and says, "I didn't know they had a new Bumblebee coming out"...
She didn't even look at the name on the box. I look at her with shock, and she says "See, I don't ignore you ALL the time!"
But, yeah, stuff like that happens all the time. She's even excited about the movie coming out!

My mom doesn't necessarily think any Megatron is sexy, but she does think certain TF's are funny/ She's always loved BW Megs' line about how Cheetor is sneaky & she thinks Rattrap is really funny.

I watched The Agenda parts 1-3 with my mom and she really likes BW because of it. She thinks Cheetor is a dork, though. I.E. "Do you think Megatron will take hostages?"

Then all Optimus can say is "I'm praying that's all he does." Cheetor was so goofy in the early BW days.

I'd say something about the 'fangirl' part until I stop and realize that my daughter could come in and say the same exact thing about me whenever I'm spout'in on about Megs & G.

Um yeah, to the rest of the world we are a bunch of geeks anyway and besides that we don't know the age of the original poster.
For all we know he's still a kid. You sound like you're picturing him as a 40 year old man who lives in his mom's basement.
And back on topic, my dad's the one who got me interested in Transformers. When I first saw the show it was on in the mornings before I had to go to school as a kid and I never even really understood what the heck the gient robots were. (Mainly because I missed the first few episodes and never saw the end of a show till I finally asked my dad to start taping it for me.) I had to have my dad tape the show because as I said it was in the morning before school and had to leave half way through the program.
I would have never watched Transformers at all on my own, that's just what my dad would be watching at the time. He allso got me started on Star Trek the same way sence I mostly just watched whatever he did. Allthough as far as Star Trek goes for some reason I only like TNG and DS9.

My parents are on both sides of the coin. The first TF mom ever bought me was Gears. The frist one dad ever bought me (simply to out do mom) was Prime. While both support my hobby to some extent, they both hate me spending money on it. Mom freaks out, yet she'll buy me one (that I already have) just because she thought it was a nice looking Transformer and didn't think I had it. Bless her simple heart. She has NOO clue as to how many I have, but I tell her I don't have it and usually take it back the next day for something I don't have yet. So when she sees it out she'll always say "that ones my favorite you know" and smirk a smug grin. I always tell her "Me too" so she doesn't feel like a tool when I could just tell her "I've had it for about 9 months, but thanks anyways"
As for my dad, he tries to go out of his way when he's away on business trips to the states to pick me up Transformers that we don't have over here yet and to save me some money as he knows that I'll full out buy every one I see. I remember him calling me from Chicago a few months ago asking if $200 for a G1 Blitzwing still in the box was a good price and if I wanted it. I politly declinde the offer and told him it was way too much but thanks for the offer. Dads better off financially then mother is, so dad likes to throw down the coin to cover both myself and mom.
I guess I'm lucky like that. If your mom is buying you stuff off of ebay then you should be very thankful. Alot of parents can't afford such a luxury. Tell your mom I think she's pretty cool and to keep up the good motherly work.

I would like to pick up a G1 Grimlock MIB, but it is selling for like $2000, which is insane.

my parents are fine with TF's. they dont understand (my mom) my preference over Shokaract instead of Rampage (mum doesnt understand the gravity of a repainted character that is a demi-god as opposed to a regular old psychopath ;p). Neither of them are fans of it, but both of them used to watch it (my mom G1 and my dad used to watch Beast Wars before he went to work... first season.) & both of them are willing to spare me some money if i lack enough to buy a TF (I.E. lucky draws n' botcon junk ;p).
