That's the problem: A few. The two games that use this model give you
three to start with, out of a cast of
dozens. It's like buying Super Smash Bros. and only getting Mario, Link, and Pikachu to play as.
If I pay for the full game, the least they could do is give me the full roster. One or two DLC characters here or there is fine, but the standard characters shouldn't form only a fifth of the cast. Probably why this is only marketed to kids, they don't know they're blowing their allowance on something other games give you for free. It's an extreme form of DLC, which is itself already fairly controversial. And it's not going to catch on.
Oh, and please do tell me "Don't like, don't buy." Because then I can retort with "That's why it hasn't caught on."
