Cant play with unlockable skins on PSP ?

People have been saying that you need to have a friend on multiplayer to use unlockable Generation 1 characters . However can you have bots controlling the unlockable characters.

Nope. The only way to play multi player is to have friends with the game or to use a program (along with a wireless router) called xlink kai. It allows you to play adhoc games over the web.
