Doesn't quite sound like my jam. I want to like SRPG's but they rarely click with me. I do have Jeanne d'Arc (PSP) sitting on my Vita. I started it and liked what I've played so far.

I just became aware of Steins;Gate 0 the other day and added it to my PSN wishlist to wait for a sale. Speaking of, I need to dig into that mid-year sale they have going on and add all the things to my backlog

Anyone got or played Elite Dangerous? coz i was nearly gonna buy it until i read somewhere that its an online only game(or that the rendering of solar systems are handled by online servers)

Well it is an MMO, so it makes sense that the planets would be stored on servers so everything is persistent for other players.

Haven't played it but I'm interested in checking it out. I'm a little hesitant about the online aspect because I don't like being bugged by other people while I'm indulging in escapism. I'll wait for a sale and keep piddling around in NMS (which is a completely different experience/game).

SNES Classic Edition

Anyone got Fallout 4 GOTY Edition yet? I'm thinking about it....but so far the price is a little steep(games stores...but Tesco seem to be the cheapest as far as bricks and mortar stores go! YES!!! I know there's always various online retailers)....even for a game reissue with dlc tacked on

Not yet, but it's on the list. I'm waiting for that $20 sweet spot. I put in over 250 hours in FO3 so I'm in no rush. I know there are new features but it'll be the same core experience. Speaking of 250+ hours, after the last update I'm in that category with No Man's Sky. I'm also getting pretty deep into the Witcher 3. I also have Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin waiting on me and not to mention Samus Returns... Argh... FOCUS!

So FO4, as soon as it hits a price point I like it'll get toss right in the back log jam with the rest

The SNES classic is quite excellent BTW and was able to walk right into Target and buy it like a normal person, go figure

I tinkered around with Super Metroid last night, as I feared after playing Samus Returns, it feels slow and clunky. Still some really classic and amazing game design though. LttP is on the menu for today

Holy **** man. That's a serious lot. Give me a few to digest it. For a guy losing interest in gaming you sure did just blow up your backlog.

Speaking of backlogs and this thread being temporarily resurrected. This year I've decided to kill my backlog. Not finish it, just put it to bed, stop worrying about un-played games. So if I haven't played a game in like a year, I delete it off my console, if it isn't holding my interest (Witcher 3) I walk away, if I'm not having fun playing the game at least 90% of the time (Witcher 3) I walk away.

A few recent gems have taught me that I should be having fun.


Anyway, let me look that list over and see. What did that set you back anyway?

Hey I ain't hating. I've seen some of those DS games at Gamestop used for full retail price, it's nuts.

Just making sure, you did play Bioshock Infinite, all the Dead Space games, the Batman Arkham games, Skyrim and the Uncharted games right? Just asking because if you didnt, boy are there some amazing single player games out there.

But to answer your question, no I dont know about that game, sounds cool.

Haven't played any of those. I've got a friend who really likes the Arkham and Uncharted games, so those are on my watchlist.

I dont know anything about Horizon Zero Down, might be a great game, but I know that all those games i mentioned are awesome. And they should be cheap too, depending the platform you play them on. For Arkham, the first 2 are easily the best (Asylum and City). And I can recomend Bioshock Infinite to no end.

It's an open world game akin to Breath of the Wild. I lost interest in BOTW after a few hours of playtime, I figured I'd ask the guys here if Horizon was any different.

Sounds pricey for the Arkham games and I hear the PS4 versions arent as good looking,as odd as that may sound. As for rated M games, I never thought of tat. But yes, unlike the arkham and Deadspace games and many other games (where you either not kill people or kill monsters), the enemies in Bioshock Infinite are simply people and their deaths can be a bit much depending on the method you choose (simply shooting them, or electrocuting them, or having them picked at by crows, or having them shoot themselves). The good thing about the game is that it can be enjoyed through a number of ways so if you simply want to throw people overboard with water, or just stick to headshots, then thats fine too.

But thats all the M rating refers to, blood from death. There isnt any sex or nudity. There are undead mothers from paralel dimension though (its a pretty incredible game).

And if you are staying away from it because humans are killed, stay away from the Uncharted series. Holy crap, Nathan Drake just straight up murders so many people in those games.

I suppose I should have clarified. There's a two-pack called Return to Arkham that contains both of those games and costs $50, so I'd be getting each for $25. That's a price I'd be willing to pay. Never mind. Just found it on Amazon for $20, and I'd much rather pay that

And I've never been a stickler for looks, so I don't mind if they are as visually appealing as other platforms.

Generally, the main reason I don't play rated M games is because I'm not actually old enough to do so (16 at the moment). I've convinced my parents to let me buy one rated M game (Rainbow Six: Siege), and the only reason I was able to do that was because there was very little graphic content (just a small blood splatter when you kill people) and very little language in the main mode. I'm not sure if I could convince them to let me get Bioshock.

Yeah, I had caught that, I still found it expensive for games that are over 5 years old and from a past generation. They are still awesome though and as we spoke in other threads, they are a gold standard for single player in an age when that is almost gone. They also have a nice blend of open world and story (Arkham City is far more open, Azylum is more like a metroid game with a clear path but you could always revisit areas to get collectables).

As for Bioshock, you could tell your parents its very topical, with the idea of a world which still has segregation and taking things back to the age of the founding fathers. Its about a world held up in the clouds away from society and which chose a different path. Like they worship John Wilkes Booth for ending Lincoln and thus attempting to leave things the way they are. Its very deep, easily the deepest triple A game we got in the last generation of consoles. And the longer one waits to pla it the more it can be dated (the earlier Bioshock games would feel very dated to you, for instance). And I dont recall swearing. But yes, there can be major blood spatter.

I dont know if letting them know the game is based on the chicago world fair of 1893 would change their minds, but hey if you can only play it once you turn 18, then make sure its the first game you play, just so that you dont wait too long and the game doesnt feel too dated in its mechanics.
