A Question about the Transformers Armada PS2 Game

Despite being one of my favorite games of all time, there's something about the game that's always sort of bothered me. And that's that it feels like they just sort of injected the transformers into some other game. What I mean by this, is that it sort of feels like it was another game first, maybe some property Hasbro owned, and they decided to make it a transformers game. And I was wondering if anyone knew what game it could have potentially been first? This is just hypothetical, tinfoil hattery of course but it's fun to think about, considering that there isnt a single road in the entire game.

Indeed  It's like he says, not a road in sight.
Ive played through it a bunch and It's always bothered me. Anything transformers related seems tacked on.
Despite this I love the game, it's just a feeling I could never shake, that it might've been another game first.

Well I doubt we could ever know unless the makers could tell us.

I have fond memories of it though. I never saw the Armada cartoon until a couple years ago, so I had no basis for the game. Which probably made it easier for me to accept the loose premise.

Thew makes me want to go back and play it, but I have no idea where my PS2 is or if it works even. I know I got every Minicon and data thingy, and I remember the Unicron fight, but for the life of me I can't remember if I actually beat it...

The Unicron Fight was annoying until you learned to actually follow him properly, which was a pain. Neat idea though. Wish he transformed, but having two massive bots in the game might have broken the bank
