where the hell are all the Wii's?

This has been annoying me for several months...

The Wii will soon be coming on a year since launch date, and you still can't buy one! I'm willing to buy one right now if I saw one, but they are no where to be found! Considering its nothing more than an upgraded gamecube, there shouldn't be any production problems and theres no reason why Nintendo shouldn't be able to meet the supply with the demand. I hate to say it but I"m acctually thinking about getting a 360 instead, because You can acctually BUY one of those!

Its redicolous

I have the answer, they're all in Europe clogging shelves. When I was in Barcelona every shop had them, one major retailer had over 50 in a display(not empty display boxes) and there is an abundant supply of Wii consoles in Dublin as well.

The demand is still pretty high. A shipment of 300 units was cleared out of all receiving stores in only 4 hours

Yep! The place where I work has 7 sitting out the back which is a hell of a lot more than we need

My local Gamestop has 7-8 pre-owned. It was surprising to see more used Wii consoles than the other two.

My friend says he's seen a few around, but I've never actually seen a Wii being sold in person, with the exception of when I went with said friend on launch day when he bought his Nintendo Wii.

They are rarer than hens teeth here in Sydney.

Ever since launch you practically have to be in the store when the Wii's are put on the shelves to get one. I think that the Wii probably sold slower on its release date here than almost any date since.

That's because they made people WAIT to get them.

It's the scalpers. People buy Wiis, then sell them, buy more, sell more. It's a goddamn disgrace, a slap in the face to Real Gamers everywhere.

We still have 7 sitting at my TRU that I unpacked over a week ago. We got in 8 cases with each case holding 3 units. Be patient for a little while longer and they'll be sitting on shelves.

The Wii is really hard to find around here too. I saw 1 on the shelf 1 time and that was it.

While I love Nintendo, I have to say get the 360. I've had my Wii since launch day, and it's still not worth it. The only games I have for it are Twilight Princess, Excite Truck, Super Monkey Ball, Resident Evil 4, and ofcourse Wii Sports. TP, is great, but if you have a GameCube, I assume you've already pick it up for that platform. And TP for the NGC is the better version simply b/c everything is not backwards like in the Wii version. RE4 is an awesome game if you haven't played it already. Plus it's bargain priced, so upgrading from the NGC version wasn't as expensive. Excite Truck is crap. SMB is even more crap. I'd trade them both in if I'd remember. And that leaves Wii Sports, which is hell-a-fun, but limited. I mostly use my Wii to surf the internet while someone on my PC, or to look up cheats or hints for my 360 games, or to just kill time while I'm waiting for the next Halo 2 match to start. The Wii is starting to feel like the PS3 minus the flashy graphics.

But that being said, there are some good games on the way. Metroid Prime 3 is coming in a couple weeks. Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and uh... Mario Kart. Yeah, not that many exciting exclusives coming this holiday season...

So unless you really like the old-school Virtual Console games, just get the 360.

BTW, I hate Microsoft. :-x

I think I'm going to go with the 360 since all I basically have an overheating one courtesty of my old roommate that I can do whatever I want with. Probably going to put some artic silver on the heatsinks, and get a set of high flow cooling fans to replace the 2 80mm fans on the back, hopefully that'll be enough to keep it cool! Been researching for weeks on how to fix it!

As for the Wii I give up for now. Its just damn near impossible to get :(

I saw about 5 wii's at a Best Buy about a month ago, but that's only time I've seen them in a store. But it's not like I'm out there actively searching for a wii...

I'm satisfied with my PS2 and probably won't make a move on a PS3 or Xbox 360 until there are more price cuts.

I'm not really into the wii...

ha its kinda funny, we get maybe ten each week at work and we sell those out pretty rapidly, its the ps3's and 360's that sit in the back, ds seem to shift pretty well to

Actually, when I get a Wii, I plan on getting TP a second time. (I already played and beat it for Gamecube.)

No, I mean 09. He is an 09, not an 08.

Well...

About a month ago, or so, I had a long day. I went to bed rather late, like a 11 or so, and 6p.m. my wife wakes me up and says "honey look what I got". I expect to see something with Colts on it, or some cool kitechn accessory instead my eyes bug out like a cartoon: its a Nintendo Wii in its box!

Apparently her brother had saw some at Walmart and told her about it. So they went to Walmart, and sure enough they were gone, so they moved on to Gamestop, where they had like 8 of them. She conned her brother into buying one, and worked out a deal in which we'd pay him back.

I'm pretty happy with it and feel like I made the right choice, however I am sick of Wii sports, and wish I had more moeny. There are some good games out there, and i've rented them all. Just wish I had more money.

The big-box store I work part time at had a major shipment a few weeks ago. We had near 100 or more and they sold out in 2 weeks. Smaller 8-unit shipments sold out by 12:30 PM the day they came in. If yer really serious about getting one, just set up a calling list fer yer local big-box stores, and call in around 8:30 every Monday and Tuesday. I betcha hit paydirt in 4 weeks or so.

I have one now. Read my last post.

BTW seems Wii's are getting easier to get. 2 weeks after i got mine, I went into walmart after work one morning and they had 7 of them! Every thursday since seems like Wal-mart and Meijer have a bunch. thursday must be the big N's big shipout day!

Maybe it doesn't help to say I have 13 sitting in boxes in my living room?

Probably cos I don't

The Wii is still selling strong at full price, where the 360 and PS3 had to be dropped in price majorly and- in the case of the PS3- redesigned to be a lot cheaper to make, and so sell.

Plus, there's loads of big names hitting the shelves for the Wii this christmas. Nintendo really know how to play the field huh?

The machines are out there, they just go quickly. I was in a Wal-mart that had 4 units left, but those were gone in a day. Just yesterday I dropped by a BestBuy and saw 5 more units.

Interestingly, Most Gamestops don't even give exact dates for shipping units. In the interests of fairness, new wii units can come in any day of the week to avoid Scalpers grabbing the units on normal ship dates.

Xbox= The dark side of gaming...

I don't get it. Most people say the Wii is good, but that we should all buy an Xbox. WTF? All this pro-Microsoft propaganda is getting me. Im starting to regret my Wii! Dammit! Even if i spend the last few hour playing whit Metroid Prime 3 and enjoying it, i still regret buying my Wii.

Leave the Wii ALONE!

And do it RIGHT NOW! I MEAN IT!

(Is it in reference to that Britney Spears guy?).

And it seems that Wii shortages aren't over(or at least, are predicted):
