Congratulations. You picked up a good system. I would've liked to have bought mine in a store, but due to the unavailability, I ended up winning mine on eBay.

If you like FPS games and Light Gun games, you'll probably get a hoot out of Red Steel.

And then there's Super Smash Bros. Brawl...

You already have the one that really matters.

Red Steel is a good example of FPS for the Wii, it uses ALL of the sensors and gadgets of the Wiimote which makes it very unique. Only problems I found were several glitches - an inivisble guy shooting at me, a guy who was walking on air and a guy stuck inactive. Also they can snipe with an uzi better than you can with an actual sniper rifle.
However, it does play all the strengths of the Wii system.

Zelda is good too, I bought the Wii with Zelda. And though I don't own it, Warioware Smooth Moves is a laugh for people who want completely bizarre gameplay (best for multiplayer!).

And I agree completely, Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one game I cannot wait any longer for! It looks awesome.

Trauma Center is a good game, as well as Wario Ware. As for a good WiFi game, Super Mario Strikers is a good, simple, pick up and play game the both of you can enjoy.

Don't know if your into it. But DBZ Budokai tenkaichi 2 and its upcoming sequel 3 for the wii are really good.

& hey, don't forget the virtual console games. They have so many good old games It'd be hard to name them all: Every Zelda console game from the original to OOT...SMB 1, 2, world, 64, kart....Bomberman '93, Sonic 1 & 2, Metroid, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong Country 1&2, F-zero & F-zero X, Paper mario, Mega Man, Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, & one of my personal favorites, Super Metroid, will be available tomorrow......

Yeah, it's great.

I think WiiSports has had the most playtime on my Wii, its damn fun for multiplayer.
Warioware is the best actual mini-game game, but I think Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 should usurp it.

DBZ BT2 is good and all, but seeing as DBZ BT3 is only 3 or so months away, I would say wait and get it instead.
Zelda is fun, but I have not got enough time to sit down and play it for the hours it deserves.

If you like racing games, there is only one game you need... Excite Truck, possibly the most fun you can have on the Wii at the moment. (until Smash Brothers comes out).

Congrats on your system man, you're gonna love it.

As mentioned, now that you have Zelda, pick up Raving Rabbids (and its sequal) and Resident Evil 4.

Oh, and don't forget this gem:

No argument that game is kickass fun, but it's also something you'd beat pretty quickly. I'm holding out until ExciteTruck drops to $30.

The oft-unmentioned feature of the wii is the backwards compatibility with the GameCube. If you can't wait for wii games, pick up the GCN versions cheap. You can't go wrong with F-Zero GX (although I can only imagine what the eventual wii successor will look like)

Awesome, someone else who likes F-Zero GX :D Most people I know say it's too hard but I love it. Indeed, the Wii F-Zero game will be incredible.
Forgot about Resident Evil 4, that's very good on the Wii; much easier with the pointer targetting system, as well as being a great experience.

hey, I like F-Zero GX too... :-(

Yeah, it's a fun game. Hard, yes, but it's Ninja Gaiden hard....meaning it's hard & fun at the same time, which makes you want to get better so you can have more fun.

I reccomend:

Zelda

Wario Ware

Ravin Rabbids

Red Steel

Wii Play- good harmless fun, + a free controller

Smash Bros Brawl when it comes out

Mario Galaxy

Super Paper Mario

Super Mario Kart

Metroid Corruption

Resident Evil 4

errr...for the mo that's all I can think of
But this stuff should quite easily last you till this time next year :P

You know I always saw this as the other way around...buying a controller + free game....which if you ask me makes more sense given that there's not much to Wii Play....but yeah, definately worth it if you want an extra controller.

Super Paper Mario, WarioWare, and Excitetruck rule. If you like Sonic, get Secret Rings, if you don't, then pass.

And there are tons of cheap-but-classic gems on the Virtual Console. The Marios, the Zeldas, Sonic 2, Kirby, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Street Fighter 2, Paper Mario, and the Metroids for example.

thanx for the congrats. i love the wii, its everything i hoped it would be. right now i rented elebiits. that is a fun game. its pretty much a FPS and u can interact with objects in the stages. the only bad thing about this system(and pretty much for al the new systems) is the price on the games....i may have to buy alot of used games untill others go down and some day make the nintendos choice...oh how i love $19.99 games lol.

At least Nintendo are consistant in their pricing.

To my knowledge, their games have been £39.99 or less since the advent of the N64 all those years ago.

I never thought about looking at Wii Play like that. Kinda does make more sense I suppose. I love playing Wii Tanks.

I also suggest Battilion Wars 2. It's not out yet where I am, but it looks brilliant!

Damn! Lucky, I'm still awaiting my Wii. Can't wait. :(

I'm getting it because it has a solid block of games, but if there's one thing I'm not fond of about the Wii, it's the lack of decent FPS games and mature games. I hope it gets better.

I disagree. It's quite enjoyable. Albeit I'd look for a $30 used copy, but its' still not a bad game.
