Transformers Movie Game - It could have been much more

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that the Transformers Movie game could have been a lot better.
What first got me was that the trailers and teasers showed, for example "Blackout Vs Ironhide", and I thought, oo so its a deathmatch game with destructible lanscapes.
But it wasn't.
Like all movie-to-game games it has to mimic the film, badly. For a start, why is it, as an Autobot at the finale mission city, all the cops and military attack you and not the Decepticons you are fighting?
Also, sorry for any **spoilers** I might say, in the "rescue bumblebee" mission as Optimus Prime.. the helicopter you chase seems to just fly around and around the same city again and again? Surely it would just.. y'know.. fly away?
As much as I LOVE the transformation button, I was saddened when playing as Starscream as I couldn't jump and then transform in mid-air. I had to jump... drift to the ground, then transform.
I must admit, my favourite character is Blackout, his Melee attack is plain awesome.
Oh and another thing, that HORRIBLE annoying "action zone" system they have.. you are busy fighting off loads of robots/military/sector7 and you say, right, need to fly off and recover, or get at a distance. But oh NO you can't go THAT way, that's outside the mythical "action zone", you're risking failing the entire mission.
I can see a Transformers game being awesome as a 1-on-1 deathmatch game. Were two players can have the run of a city/town to do battle. No multiplayer at all is tragic to me.
The models of the robots with their transformations were so good, it just seemed a bit of a waste.
I guess they made it simple because they gave it to everything, Wii/Xbox/PS3/DS and PSP, but there is a better game waiting to be made.
Also.. why does Prime duel-wield guns??

I enjoyed it for what it was.
A game based off a movie.
It could've been a lot worse.

How could it have been WORSE? They make you play a level as SAM?! The combat system sucked (My mighty robot fists cant hurt you...but if I throw this UMBRELLA at you, it knocks you back!), your guns are completely useless, and that GODDAMN ACTION ZONE! This was the first and last time I ever pre-order a game.
I'll just keep playing Armada on PS2. At least that game's FUN.

you preordered a mass release game available on practically all counsles that was only released to promote a movie?
wow.
I didn't expect this game to win any game of the year awards. Nor did I think it would be any good. Hell I didn't even buy the game, I only rented it. But frankly enjoyed what I played.
Many games based on on movies outright suck (there are few exceptions). This is a syndrome thats been going on for a long time, long before this game was released.
But this was good enough for me, It gave me a first real look at what the Transformers are going to be like for this movie, how they move, weaponry, how they animate.
It even gave us some quality voice actors. It got Peter Cullen and Frank Welker finally duking it out as Megatron and Prime once again.
Yes some things could've been better. But I still liked what we got.

You are indeed KING.
I support this, your 36th post and hope to see others in the future.
(F' the movie game, F' its horrid controls, F' its pointless and utterly inane combat)

With all the time they spent "making the environment act like a 20 foot robot was going through it blah blah blah" you'd think they'd have first made the game good.

Oh dear, I hope I haven't started a rant forum or anything.
I agree with Sigma Prime that MOST games based on films do indeed suck, and it is no surprise this one did. This is the reason I only rented it and not bought it; I bought the first Spiderman the movie game for the gamecube.. full price, how I regretted that! Since then I've not bought a film-to-game game.
So I didn't think it was going to be awesome, but I thought it was going to be something different from what it was. The trailers I saw were 1-on-1 battles with key characters in destructable landscapes and you can transform at will. I thought it was a deathmatch game where you could move freely in the entire landscape and fight an opposing robot (with wrecking balls, cars etc).
They could have at least put a 2 player fight mode in it. A game should be more than just repetitive missions with repetitive fights all for the sake of unlocking movie clips and trailers we have all seen already.
Having said that, unlocking G1 Megatron and G1 Prime was pretty cool.

my biggest problem is that G1 Megs has no alt mode.

I think Traveler's Tales got lucky with Lego Star Wars and convinced everyone else they could make good movie-game crossovers. Look at their
other games, all big steamy pieces of poo.
