I've started a new comic to celebrate the launch of Halo 3!Here's the description:

After agreeing to not battle whining preteens over Xbox Live, the group of gamer friends under the codename Unit Nineteen has not been challenged in months and is running low on provisions. To make matters worse, they're getting on each others' nerves and they don't realize it's just a game of Halo 2!

Issue 1: Xbox Live is Like That


All sprites in this comic are by ZRDragoon unless stated otherwise.

How very original. I like how this is like no other comic I've ever heard of, especially the title.

Though to be perfectly fair, this differs from mine in two ways only: Mine takes place in the Halo Universe, you're doesn't. Also, I assume you're going to feature primarily SPARTAN-IIs, possibly with a Sanghelli every so often. (If you don't know what that is, then FOR SHAME!) Whereas I give the focus primarily on the Marines, rather than the SPARTAN-IIs.

But it's the name that gets me. Kind of like Proto-Man: The Untold Tales.

Slight variation does not a clever title make.

While I knew that you'd get onto me about Protoman, I never noticed your Halo series. I was on vacation when you posted that.

SORRY if I don't notice your comic or (in the case of Protoman) if I used a common naming scheme that you also used. But I understand. On a forum with only a few sprite comic authors, originality is important. Of course, to be more original, maybe you and PW should stop using recolors. Let me quote some people on recolors:

Sorry if that was harsh, but it's a common standard these days. Of course, posting the comics on a TF message board isn't exactly the best way to get criticism.

But yes, the comics are very different. Mine focuses on a group of friends who play Halo 2 online, yours revolves around the actual universe.

Quoting a second-rate sprite comic FORUM, which used ideas I could've beaten in my sleep.

And I had a longer post, but I'll keep it simple: Almost every one of the ideas in your sig is remarkably similar to one of my works.

And to the mods: Sorry if I come off a bit harsh, but I can't help but be unnerved by the fact that a lot of the things AB1 does is similar to my works.

Recolors are only for newbs in comics, this is true. but they are useful for characters that make only a breif appearance, or when you have too many characters to make original sprites for.

What's more irritating than the recolors are the amount of Sonic and mega man comics that are extremely poorly done and have no real plot or jokes.

Bah. Originality's in the story. halo's popular. People will use Halo. I say just let both Shadowman and Ab1 do their work and see who gets better reviews, rather than just dis it at the start.

I fail to see any resemblance to your works in Game Over, the House of Sonic, Super Mario Mayhem, or Megaman Space Saga. PMUT is only similar in name, and MMXMHU17 is only similar in the fact that they're both MMX comics. And you have not even seen my side comics: Sonic Author Resort, a collaborative author comic, and Bobby and Kailob's Reviews, where Bobby and Kailob review games and other comics from their couch. Neither of those are in my sig.

But the comics in the bottom half of my sig have been deleted and my sig needs updating. I now have this very comic (where I can understand your comparison), Do the Mario!, which is an 8-bit Mario comic with random humor, and Megaman Star Farce. I will only believe you if you compare your comics to mine in detail.

Issue 2: Meet the Unit!


Lazy, I know, but it'd take a while to fully introduce 12 characters while focusing on Blu and Redd most of the time.

I wouldn't call that an "Issue." I'd call it "filler."

Which is basically what it is, but it's more useful and important (like a regular issue) than just a random space-waster (like filler).
