Found this story on the net...

Reuters - Monday, September 17 01:15 pmBEIJING (Reuters) - A Chinese man dropped dead after playing Internet games for three consecutive days, state media said on Monday as China seeks to wean Internet addicts offline.

The man from the southern boomtown of Guangzhou, aged about 30, died on Saturday after being rushed to the hospital from the Internet cafe, local authorities were quoted by the Beijing News as saying.

"Police have ruled out the possibility of suicide," the newspaper said, adding that exhaustion was the most likely cause of death. It did not say what game he was playing.

China, worried about the spread of pornography and politically incorrect content, has banned the opening of new cybercafes this year and issued orders limiting the time Internet users can spend playing online.

In April, President Hu Jintao launched a campaign to rid the Internet of "unhealthy" content and make it a platform for Communist Party doctrine

I've read stories like this before, and I really do wonder sometimes. How in the world can someone play a game for THAT long without getting up or anything?

I've heard stories like this before from Vietnam I think it is, wonder if they're culture has anything to do with it.

Its true, and old, I'v heard of at least 4 people who died from too much gaming, and them Koreans who let thier kid die. And that guy who killed someone because of a WoW sword. Some people  . My nonstop gaming record is a tiny 25 hours.

he was probably a WoW farmer...good riddance.

JUST KIDDING! That's really something that people need to pay attention to, especially at prolonged LAN parties.

I miss the prolonged LAN parties. My friends and I used to be able to play for 12-14 hours straight. Now everyone crashes by 4AM. weak... :P

If you think it's wise to play computer games for 3 days straight, then you get what you deserve.

This is along the same lines as the 'my children play violent video games, and are now violent towards me and other people'.
That's what happens when you let a 6 year old play an 18 rated game.

Well if you gotta play for a long while, then i mean it is inportant to drink alot of WATER, not beer or cola, even trough that's what you want when you sit in front of the screen playing wow, like i do !

But ... sometimes i forget to drink water myself ... :P ...

2 liters of fresh water everyday peps !

But again ... dont play for days ! ... Its not healthy, that guy died from it

I'd probably commit suicide before I were forced to play WoW for that long.

Bloody hell, 3 days, surely the guy needed to pee or something during that time!

My current non-stop gaming time is about 6 hours, when I can't see straight, I know its time to stop!

That or when its feels like there is a rock in my bladder

I gotta disagree with the whole kids and violent video games. The parents who let their kids do that are just bad parents, and won't discipline their kid(and by discipline I don't mean sending to their room where they have a computer, games and such) if they act violent towards them and others.

Guild Wars gives you a warning if you've been playing for awhile. Pops up every hour to say " You've been playing X hours." After it gets to so many hours, it pops up with "You should take a break." First time I saw that, I laughed my butt off. Thank you friendly computer game for letting me know when my break should be!

"You've been playing for 2 days straight, get a life."

Lol, i would probably die laughing if I got that message. WoW players, to me, have no souls. That is why the game encompasses their entire lives. I have friends who paly it from the time they are done with dinner until 4 in the morning every night. I hate the game because of that, and its cheesyness but thats another topic...

As far as violent videogames for kids, I have a 4 or 5 year old cousin who plays San Andreas with his now 9 year old brother. He talks about chainsawing guys to death and beating old ladies but its funny. He hasn't pulled a knife on me yet. I think that violent videogame stuff is bunk, if the kid has any kind of psychotic problems its because the parents didn't hug him enough or teach him about the morality of doing the thigns they do in videogames.

Exactly.

The bloody planet is full of lazy-ass SOBs that are too lazy to look after their kids and bring em up proper.

I'm sick and tired of hearing all the sockermoms complaining that 'video games destroyed my child's life' ****. It's your kid, it's your problem. Game companies etc do not endorse selling older games to younder children, playing for days on end solid, or taking what you see and taking it into real life.

Agreed. I will sit there & play Ninja Gaiden in front of my 3-year-old & 5-year-old, & do you want to know where they get their violent tendancies from? Daycare. Being around other kids whose parents don't give a rat's arse about how they make their kids behave. They're not going around trying to find sharp objects to behead their friends(hell, they think I'm killing robots, & that transmission fluid leaks out when their head gets chopped off.). I play Halo in front of them all the time, but they never even try to touch my .22, & it's sitting (unloaded) right next to my front door(I honestly need to get rid of it. No, parents just like to use games as a scapegoat so they can continue to think that their children are innocent precious angels instead of human beings with human mentalities, human urges, & human faults.

Jeez, playing a video game for even a couple of hours is too much for me, usually. I dunno how somebody can play for days on end.

The most i can take is 345 consecutive hours and i end up drained.
