Bungie Leaves Microsoft

I was just reading
this article on IGN.com. Seems Bungie is becoming an independant company again, but Microsoft retains a "equity interest" as they call it. Basicly what I think they're saying is Bungie is free to make new games, even ones for other consoles, but Microsoft still owns Halo. Similar to how Rare got bought out by MS, but Nintendo still own Donkey Kong. So you'll still never see DK on the 360, and likely you probably won't see Halo on the Wii, even though it would rule. But as for Marathon and other games based in the Halo universe, who know? I'd love to see what kind of shooter Bungie could build for the Wii.

New for PS3 and Wii: Malo 4, starring the Master Sergeant, as he battles the evil Convent aliens, while trying to stop the Storm parasite, and the gigantic Malo Superweapon.

It'll be good for Bungie to branch out, try out some new things with the other consoles, plus they can go back and make new Halo games if they want, but I don't they'll make any more.

Halo on the Wii would suck. Look at how well other FPS games have done on that system.
Plus, the main thing that makes Halo great is the online multiplayer, which the Wii hasnt exactly used to its strengths its other games.
No i want something as epic and glorious as Halo to stay on powerful systems to get the best experiance out of it.

Metroid Prime 3, which is getting amazing reviews. And Red Steel, which appears to play a millions times as cool as Halo. (What can I say? I'm a sucker for Light Gun games)
What's your point?

Red steel sucked if you dont remember. It got horrid reviews all over the place.
My point is the Halo experiance would suck on such an underpowered console like the Wii. It would be like trying to play your beloved latest Zelda rehash on the PS2. Not to mention it would control like a pig.

You're right, Halo is bland enough as it is, why give it any sort of innovation?

Halo on the Wii would be interesting, but it'd seem to be a concept that wouldn't come out exactly right.
Dual wielding for instance, would be kind of hard to properly control, or implement with the Nunchuck.
There, really doesn't seem to be enough things in Halo that would make it cool(er) on the Wii.
If you look at Metroid, you have the whip thing you can use, you can grab levers and open them using the nunchuck set-up.
Theres just none of that in Halo.
I'd like to maybe see a different type of Halo game on the Wii, not just a port of the games.

The Wii has much superior Controls to X-box 360 for FPS. And as for Halo being underpowered... uh well Halo 1 and 2 came out on the X-box, and the Wii is more powerful than the X-box

Yea...using Red Steel wasn't your best choice to counter the arguement...Only Wii game i have and I only played it once, didn't hold my attention at all and it was so visually poor i had to go play gears of war to get my vision back.
Halo on the Wii wouldn't happen. Maybe an offshoot of it but not Halo itself.

I loved Red Steel. Great game, and had more story in it than Halo, which seemed more about flying around the universe and shooting things.
The nunchuk-wiimote combo is great for dual-wield.
How else would I take my SMGs in the game? Single wield? Hell no.
What you need to remember is that what critiques say means ****. They said Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a five star film. I felt like throwing my tv out of the upstairs window after five minutes.

Yeah but this isnt the xbox generation anymore, we've moved on since then, we wore different clothes back in those days. But the Wii is stuck in that gen.

Obviously you've never played the game. I like how people can still try to rip on Halo despite its runaway success. $300 million in the first week for Halo 3, 360 sales jumped upwards after its release because of people buying the system JUST for that game, yet people with no taste still try to say its "crap" or "not innovative". I tell you what aint innovative, the Wii. lol:

Yeah just like how the PS2 was REDICULOUSLY underpowered to the Gamecube and X-box...yet look who won the war. The weakest system always wins, this goes back quite a while. The NES was inferior to the Master system and won the war, the Genesis was inferior to the SNES and imo won the war (they say SNES won but by the time it caught up in sales Sega had already moved on to the Saturn). The PSX was inferior to the N64 and Saturn but it won the war. The PS2...well you get my point.
Really the time is now for nintendo to dominate with an underpowered system. I'm sorry but after the last system war, graphics aren't getting much better. Its becoming a big pissing contest between big monopolistic companies like microsoft and sony. Yeah the 360 is pretty, but I've seen little on it that looks better than the original X-box. I'm watching my roomie play halo 3 as we speak and thinking "man it looks like halo 2 in a higher resoloution". Nintendo decided why make a pricey system and get into a pissing contest with MS and Sony when they could take it another direction and give gamers a different way to play. And honestly had nintendo made a comparable system, they would probably be a 3rd party company by the next system war, since they've been struggling since the N64 failed.
But anyway I don't want halo on my Wii. I really think Bungee should just stick with MS. I hate it when business kill gaming. Its like how we'll never have a good bond game ever again because MS owns Rare, EA finally just lost the bond liscense, and the Bond/Perfect dark team left to Eidos I think for the time splitters series (which is why Perfect dark zero was such a bomb on 360)
What would be funny is if Nintendo decided to buy Bungee. Stick it to MS for grabbing Rareware away from them!

Oh, I did. I played the first two, and, honestly, the third one doesn't interest me. At all. Halo 1 and 2 were just the same **** over and over. And over. And over. And Halo 3 REALLY doesn't look too much different.
Now,if they could add something totally kick-ass-awesome, like the Gravity Gun or the Portal Gun, or even puzzle solving elements like in Half-Life 2 or Metroid Prime (Something to work the brain, other than,"How do I get past this? oh, right, shoot him"), hell, even a REAL Boss Battle. Those closest Halo came was Regret, and he was too much of a pushover.

So you rather have a poor game that relies on over-complicated gimmicks that just copy the breakthrough enviroment manipulation elements of Half Life 2 from 3 years ago then have a good old fashioned but epic series of games like Halo that take gaming back to its simplest and best roots whilst breaking new ground both in sales and in technical terms?
Cool...you should be just happy in the background with the "girls console" in that case.
Oh and FYI, Halo isnt at all easy, 'specially once the flood turn up or you have to battle a scarab in Halo 3, or go mano-e-mano with a brute wielding a gravity hammer on legendary mode.
If you want tactics, go play Gears Of War...oh wait...the Wii cant run that game can it? I guess you will have to stick with the 100th Mario game then.

Yep, that's about right. I'd rather play a REAL game then a rehash of Halo 1 any day.
Half-Life 2 had an INCREDIBLE story. Hell, even Portal, short as it was, had a better story than Halo.
Metroid has REAL boss fights (Not just slight retools of the same enemies over and over), AND puzzle elements. (So I have to actually THINK)
And I could play Gears, actually. I don't quite have enough memory for my PC, but that is easily solved. (A gig of DDR2 isn't all that expensive anymore)
But it looks like Wii is also getting Star Wars: The FOrce Unleashed. Now THERE'S something to look forward to.
See, I'll be able to SWING the lightsaber, for real. Not just push a button, and watch an animation. Wii gives greater levels of control. 360 would probably be good, too, if it didn't have those Three Red Lights.

So Halo is a "fake" game then? I fake game who's third installment has sold more copies than any other game this year and who's predecessor pioneered online console home gaming and revolutionized the FPS genre on all consoles?
Light saber, star wars, Wii, stupid pointless "nunchuck" controller?
Poor you...

Riiiight. All the games that
gamers consider to be some of the best ever made are always overrated, its not just the critics that hype things up too much.

Wait wait wait, hold on here. I didn't read your first post (Too much stupid for one man to handle), but now that I did (And it was hard to not type "didn't" there) I noticed something I really should have before:
Sonray wrote:revolutionized the FPS genre on all consoles?
I'm sorry, but are you new to video games? Have you ever heard of DooM? How about Goldeneye? (Which sold as many copies as Halo 2) Perfect Dark? Bioshock? Half-Life?

Yes i have, and was any of those games on the Xbox? No. Did any of them pioneer and perfect online console gaming that we have on every (well nearly every) console today? No.

OH! I get it, so it's only a "real" game if it's on Xbox?
Good for you, you're opinion is no longer valid. (Actually, Bioshock was on the 360)
EDIT: ANd just so you know, I never did online with consoles. I never trust a service that makes me pay $15/month for a game I already paid for.
Oddly enough, Wii has online for free.
