Hello, does anybody know if Half-life 2 has a game editor? I need it because I want to make a realistic looking fanfic movie, and it was the best thing I could think of. If then, where do you find it? Or is there a different kind of movie making program out there where you can make realistic cgi images on the computer? I might want to try making a movie because I have several very cool ideas and I don't want them to go to waste.

you could always use a screen recorder. or if you're really feeling lucky you could use maya. it's not free. but it works!

When it first came out the only way to edit it was with SoftImage. Which is the program they made the game with. I'd suggest using Garrys Mod though. You can load any of the maps into it and any of the game models. And then pose them however you want.

Is it possible to get the SoftImage program, or do they not sell that? What is Maya? How much does it cost, and is there a way look it up on the 'Net and check it out before buying it? And finally, how do I get GarysMod? Will it allow you to change around the features of the characters forms and faces, and even how they move?

SoftImage and Maya are in the $2000 range. If you're wanting to make simple little comics or movies. Not worth it. Garrys Mod you can just look up on google. Last version I used you could not animate. Only pose the models how you wanted them.

$2000!! Thats a little out of my price range! O_O I was thinking about doing a detailed animated movie, is there any thing that is priced lower than that? The highest I can probably afford is around $200.

Nope. Sorry. HL models are created with a certain file type made by Valve. Without the right programs it won't open.

You should really check out Garrys Mod. Go here to see what it can do. It might be your best bet.

As far as I know you can't do animations directly in it. But fan vids made in it beg to differ. So I say try it out and see what you can come up with. Theres a manual on the site.

I think he mentioned FAQ page something about paying a $10 fee. Is that for Steam, or is that to be able to use GarysMod?

Oh that sucks. I didn't even realize he had started charging for it. I guess you really are out of luck then.
