what a bloody great game.
I am totally addicted and play mostly on Defiant UK server with Subsonika.
Anyone else?
It's a bit annoying that I can't play on US servers though.

Totally agree with you, it is a great game. I've been playing it just over a year now. I've got a hero and a villain on the US Pinnacle server, and another villain on another server...don't remember which one lol.

It is, IMHO, the best MMOG out there. Easy to get into, hard to quit. The character design is extremely deep, and unlike WoW for example, you're actually forced to work in teams if you want to level up quickly, yet unlike in say, FFXI, teams are extremely easy to find.
I wish I still had a proper PC!

Aye, there is a monthly fee, but more like a subscription. You can go monthly, 6 months (at a slightly discounted rate), or one year(at a somewhat larger discounted rate).
It's not too terribly expensive, and well worth it if you plan on playing it and making good use of your time there.

If you purchase a copy of it (I recommend one that comes packed with both Heroes and Villains), it should come packed with a trial coupon.

All I can really say about City of Heroes is...I sincerely wish the gameplay was half as engaging and fun as the character creation process. Aside from travel powers, it just wasn't. I got bored very quickly.
I haven't played since release, though, so maybe things have changed.

There's been many many updates since release. I'm sure their website has all the details. Overall gameplay hasn't changed much, though. Maybe the character type didn't suit your style of play? I like the villain Masterminds personally (control hoards of minions that you summon at will to do your bidding).

I just plyed through my triel run a few weeks ago from the two-fer I got in my Guild Wars Nightfall game. It wasn't bad. I liked the chracter creation, not as many initial choices as I'd have liked (like no capes for noobs?) but the gameplay was kind of fun and it kept me itnerested for a few days, but then other things came up.
I didn't get very far and after waffling on whether I wanted a monthly fee or not I just decided not to even get the full game. There's just too many things with the control setup I don't like (yes I know I can customize) but then there was the combat thing. I'm too used to Guild Wars where if you lock onto a target it automatically tracks it and keeps you in range of your current weapon. You don't have that in CoH/CoV, or at least they didn't outline that.
In the end I guess it just wasn't for me. It's a shame too because I had some really great characters made up.

No. I was in the top role for my general playstyle (Scrapper), I just...didn't enjoy the gameplay. It was a lot more repetitive than I'm used to, and coming off a game where mindlessly farming levels was a norm, I think that says a lot.
It's odd, considering there are MMO's that aren't all too much different (essentially) that've held my attention for 2, 3 years at a stretch. CoH didn't make it past the 3 month mark.
I know there are plenty of people that are still enjoying it, though, including some good real life friends of mine, so more power to them.

You can lock on, just click the baddie with your mouse, and bam. If you want your toon to follow said bad guy, whist attacking, click the "f" button on your keyboard...or whatever button you have assigned to the follow function ^_^

Yeah, it can get boring sometimes, I personally have taken a break from it for a while. I'll get back into it later...once I get caught up beating Folklore and some other stuff.

btw this game constantly adds new significant content, free.
unlke other mmorpgs where you have to buy new content and it doesnt end up changing things much.
