I was watching Xplay the other day I don't really like the show but nothing else was on. They were talking about Smash bros. Brawl saying why is everyone so exited it's just a party game thats fun to play once and a while. That really ticked me off I mean Smash bros. is awsome and Brawl's single player looks sweet. But i still can't get over the, saying that.

I haven't seen G4 since it moved off of basic cable, but I still have a tough time believing they said that.

1st of all they didn't say that it WAS just party game they said they HOPE its not just a party game. Now I've never play a SSB game and I do see the appeal of killing Pickachu repeatedly but The game does not seem to be overtly deep. I hear the game does have some surpriseingly good play mechanics but I don't these games can be held to same standard as a Virtua Fighter or Soul Calibur. Also How can blame X-play for comments they made about a game that won't be released for another 4 months. Its not like they gave a open review. The game will probably still get a 4 out 5 regardless. X-play is the only show where get a actual review of relevant games that show with Geoff Keely is crap I knew that when he said the EA was the King of fighting games.

It's too bad, that aside from Ninja Warrior, G4 is crapola.
Hopefully, Spike TV will get Ninja Warrior, and G4 will be dragged back behind the garage and put out of it's misery.

Smash bros is awesome fighting game (3rd to MvC2 n SF3) and its not a party game!
G4 is gone! I got digital cable hopping to see G4 n Tech tv to find out they are merged and became cr@p

If that was what they had actually said I would agree with them. I cannot for the life of me find any enjoyment in the game without having 3 other people playing. The single player is horrible and even the MP fights are pretty blah. It's like Mario Party but instead of doing games, you do ninja kicks to the other players.

I haven't seen the episode, but if they're voicing their opinions on it being more than a party game, I don't think that's such a bad thing.
But I agree, Brawl is going to be so much more than a party game. I absolutely LOVED Melee, and if they put as much effort into making an even better game(much like they did with the original to Melee), then it is going to be one of the greatest games ever in my opinion.
And onto the topic of G4, I don't think X-Play's what it used to be. Maybe it's cause I'm not in a new game mood(no next-gen system yet), or maybe it's cause they aren't covering games I care about, but X-Play's just kinda boring sometimes. I like it when they do little crazy skits in the game reviews or popping in head cut-outs and stuff, I haven't seen that in a while.

As a fighting game tounie player, I can safely say that probably no game is as deep as VF5, but surprisingly, SSBM is deeper and more difficult a fighter than Soul Caliber
ever was.
Not hating on SC and I hate competitive Smash play, but it's the truth.

Yeah, SSB rocks all kind of socks.
Aren't they making an actual story mode for Brawl though?
I've read somewhere that 'For Melee, we cocentrated on fleshing out the multiplayer to the best it can be. For Brawl, we intend to add a real kickass story mode'.
Either way, I'm excited. I can play SSB alone for hours. Now, with the advent of online multiplayer on Wii, will we ever need a story mode?

I played the original SSB till the cartridge died from overuse.
SSBM I did not play as much, all the clone characters kinda watered down the experience. SSBB looks far better though.
It is a game best played with friends, just like the console Mario Karts (and almost all fighting games), but they can still be alot of fun in single player.

and what would be so bad about it being a party game? Some of the best video game memories i have were from sitting around with about ten friends under the influence playing SSB...
