Remember when you were a kid and you played one game and thought "Wow, this is awsome! I love this game!", and then years later you play it again, and think "Uh, this is....crap". Well, I had that experience the other day.

I went to a store while I was out that specializes in selling older games(they have newer stuff, but the main appeal is older games), well while browsing the Genesis section I happen upon "Jurassic Park". I look at the price, and it was only 99 cents! I think to myself "Wow, I never had a Genesis as a kid, and I remember playing this game in the store it was awsome, and you can be a raptor", so I decided to buy it. As a kid I loved Jurrassic Park, got several figures and the command center even. I never have beaten the Super Nintendo game due to lack of passwords and couldn't figure out how to beat the game either,as this was before gamefaqs. Maybe someday I'll beat the game...

Anyway, later that night, I pop in the game, look at the graphics, think "Hey, pretty cool." And then I play it for a few minutes...and figure out why it was only 99 cents. The controls are imprecise, the "camera"(look up a ways, down a ways in 2d) doesn't always work and can lead to premature deaths. The music is horrible and repeats, the level design is a nightmare, and all the problems amount to a lot of deaths and frustration. The raptor portion of the game is equally bad(and the super-jump bugs the heck outta me, raptors can't jump thirty feet into the air!!). After playing the Genesis version, I hold the Super Nintendo version in a much better regard, because it's a completely different game.

So, anyone else ever experience a similar situtaion?

I had a similar experience with Vandal Hearts 2 for the PS1; I bought it only because I loved the first one and I thought the sequal would be solid gold. Every now and then I put the game in thinking "This time, I'll get through it..." but I can't, because it's so terribly bad.

Pokemon R/B/Y. Remember when owning that game would validate any nine-year-old's existence? I mean, yes, Diamond and Pearl at least managed to SOMEWHAT revitalized the franchise. It still doesn't hold to it's former glory, but it does seem to have a strange allure to it. Me and Tweezy were decidedly anti-Pokemon. Then picks up Diamond, and our thoughts changed. It's currently on my list of games for when I get a DS.
