Celebrate the awesomeness of arguably the best game of all time!

I don't know about best of all time, but it's rare I'll play a game that long and open-ended to the end. I must say they made even the simplest things fun. There's nothing like driving a motorcycle through Los Santos, except maybe taking the [apache] helicopter for a vigilante mission.

Calling San Andreas the best game of all time (Which it most certainly is not) is a sign of inexpirience in the world of gaming.

I can name at least five games that are better, and, suprisingly, none are Halo.

Then why make a thread about San Andreas?

I'd make one about Mario, as he is the God of the Gaming World. He is to games what Superman is to comics.

Since when is there any harm in making threads about games we like and why we like them? I felt the game was top-notch and expressed my opinions as such.

Agreed Arguable Gives the interpretation that this point of view while popular is not Truth. With that said I have been gaming for nearly 20 years and GTA:SA is the best free roaming game of all time ARGUABLY of course.

You rrealize most gaming wouldn't be how it is today if it wasn't for Mario, right? He did more for gaming in one game than Master Chief did in a whole trilogy.

I think its nintendo and Miyamoto that had more to do with that then Mario thats like saying the key to Disneyworlds success is mickey mouse not Walt Disney.

I guess so.

Mario is my second dad.

I didn't say that Mario should never have existed. What he did for gaming doesn't matter anymore. He is no longer relevant. It is a shame that e isn't recognized a bit more, but that's just the way of things.

Getting back on topic:

I love the free roaming of SA. You can do more to mess around than the others, I have a beautifully customised lowrider and my homies never backtalk to me (guess they learnt that I execute the ones who do :P)

However, there are some disadvantages. Mainly, most of the missions start to blend into 1 after a while. Go here, shoot, go there, shoot. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic game and there are some missions that are great fun to play through (like the casino heist, chased by the russians on Big Smokes bike, love those cutscenes, and the second part of the final mission.) I think Vice has the best variety of missions, GTA3 has the best cheats (Liberty City Survivor with dismembered limbs anyone?) and LCS has you being a member of the mafia. I love the mafia.

The game engine of San Andreas also has the advantage of being the latest and most polished. I picked up GIAIII in a bargain bin but I really can't get into it. A lot of the things I enjoyed most about San Andreas simply weren't implemented in GTAIII.

It's crazy good when I'm bored. I load up some cheats, spawn a Hydra (Harrier) jet, and fly around until I stop caring, then spawn a couple weapons, and blow **** up until it stops being funny.

C4 is hilarious.

I've found that even with Infinite Ammo on, you can only have a certain number of C4 packs out at once.

I spread them all around a busy intersection, wait for some car to roll by, then BOOM.

I prefer my mayhem in timed doses. Just jack a few cars, block an intersection, and wait for the cars to line up. one grenade or a well-aimed bullet and you've got yourself a streetful of wreckage.

Aye, guess I forgot to comment that SA is the best one for general pissing about. Something I once tried (and found quite fun to try) is to use the all cars fly cheat, get a wanted level high enough for helicopters to appear and then try to ram into them with a flying tank. It's harder than it sounds.

San Andreas was easily the worst GTA game of the 3D GTA's. Besides swimming I hated it with a passion. I could not get into the gangster storyline no matter how hard I tried. It started picking up again when you get away from it and are in the second and third areas but then they drag you back to the ghetto and the game sucks again. Vice City still goes down as being the best overall GTA.

I hear that. The desert has the best storylines, followed by the Fierro ones.

BTW love the kung fu stickmen in your sig!
