Need Advice for the Xbox 360

Guys, I am getting a Xbox 360 for my birthday and I really don't have any idea what games I want to get except that I allready have the Transformers the Movie game and I plan on getting the NCAA College Football game.
The system my father got is the Halo addition, which I think only has a 40 gig hard drive. I did not check to see what else it comes with. Can one of you guys who have this system give me a run down on the top games for this console and what other items I probably will need. Thanks guys.

Well out of the most recently released games, one I suggest you get are Mass Effect and Rock Band (Although this one might be really hard). As for other things you might need for your system, mabey a rechargable batterie pack and a wireless mic ( dont know if the halo edt comes with one).

Oh and for other games, you could look into getting Bioshock, Chromehounds (if your into giant robot fighting) and COD 4.

Yeh thats all I can really think of right now, I'll edit it if I think of anything else, hope that helps you decide.

Cool thanks, I did not know what to expect in the Xbox 360 Halo edition so I cut and pasted what circut city has on it,

Features
Xbox 360: The Xbox 360 features three symmetrical cores running at 3.2GHz each, and a custom 500MHz ATI graphics processor for a movie-like experience.

The Core System: Xbox 360 Core System lets you play Xbox 360 games, enjoy all of the media features, and expand the the experience at your own pace.

Go wireless: The built-in wireless receiver offers precision gameplay from wireless controllers. (Note: Wireless is for controllers only. Wireless internet adapter must be purchased seperately for online play).

Save your games: Storage options include an optional 20GB hard drive and Memory Units for taking your games on the go.

Not just for gaming: With the Xbox 360 you can watch DVD movies in progressive scan, or connect to portable music players and digital cameras for a true multi-media experience.

Xbox Live Gold 30-day trial: Play cooperatively or competitively with friends and family across the street or around the world. Download free game demos and trailers and access new content for your favorite games. Enhance your 360 experience with new GamerPictures, themes and other exclusives.

Accessories:

play and Charge kit
Wireless controllers
Wireless mic
HD-DVD player (MUST HAVE - can be bought for around $100 + free movies if you are a good bargain shopper.)

Games:

Shadowrun (based on the Halo engine - a veryfun game)
Gears of War (great story and gameplay, but the online is full of bugs and cheaters)
Halo 3 (no brainer)
Guitar Hero 2 and 3
Rock band
Scene It (it's a fun party game if you like games and board games, but without the hassle of a board and pieces, plus it includes 4 big button remotes)
I hear Mass effect and Bioshock are great, but not for me.

I also really liked Perfect Dark Zero. A lot of people hated it, but to me it was a ot of fun and had some great levels. I ended up getting 1000/1000 gamerscore on it too. It's also one of the cheapest 360 games out there.

Also, on the arcade, be sure to get Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for some awesome online matches

Bioshock. If you get BioShock for PC, and hook a 360 controller up to your PC (It connects via USB), you can play the 360 version on PC. It's kind of hard to explain.

But the game is just spectacular. You can either shoot your enemy with a standard shotgun (With optional explosive or electrically-charged shells), or maybe freeze them and shatter them with a monkey wrench...perhaps throwing their own grenade and/or missile back at them? Or you could throw lightning at them...or at their feet if there's a bunch standing in a puddle. I, personally, like to turn my hands into beehives, throw the bee swarms at them, then watch as they struggle at fighting me, my bees, security bots, and whenever else I may choose to send their way. And that's not even half the possible fighting styles.

Bioshock
Skip Mass Effect and get KOTOR, as much as I like Mass Effect, it just seems like an upgraded version of KOTOR, and what KOTOR should have been in the first place. Unless you don't like Star Wars, then rent Mass Effect, see if you like it, then buy it.
Halo 3

To figure out any other games, get onto X-box Live and download the free demo's. They're your best friend.

I honestly would never recommend Bioshock. That was the biggest letdown of the year to me. Followed by Halo 3.

Hitman is good if you like endlessly walking around for hours trying to figure out how to do something without getting shot.

Call of Duty 4 is a must though.
Crackdown is decent if you just want to shoot stuff and drive around. Think of GTA but with upgrades to stuff and less of a story
LEGO Star Wars is a must if you like collecting and just want to have a fun time.
KOTOR for the original Xbox definitely.
Assassins Creed is decent. Didn't live up to the hype at all

I agree with Hugo that you should just download demos of games you think might be good and try them for yourself. Everyones taste differs. I for instance cringed at some of the suggestions in this thread. So demos are your best bet to find what you like. What people have said in here should only be a basic outline of games to look into. Not games you should immediately buy without renting them, demoing them, or reading up on them.

I would say Bioshock but I haven't met a person that didn't love Call of Duty 4. The game is great but short.....

Unless you play on Veteran. And then there is the stellar multiplayer. It's easily the leading game in that for the time being.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is good mindless fun also. If you like hack n slash games, Ninety-Nine Nights is worth a try, as well as what a lot of people have listed. Oblivion, BioShock, COD4, Mass Effect, and Lego Star Wars are no-brainers in my mind.

I'd only suggest Halo 3 if you're really into Xbox Live or if you're really serious about the Halo series.

If you're not any of that, then the game lasts barely six hours. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 lasted longer.

If you are, then freaking get it. Trying to beat Legendary, getting all the Skulls, and the endless amounts of time you'll spend on Xbox Live will probably last you quite some time.

I wasn't very impressed with Morrowind, so I can't speak for Oblivion. However it does seem highly impressive. And Patrick Stewart did a voice in it, so it has that going for it.

F.E.A.R. is definitely something you should get. If you like high quality shooters and/or horror movies, then you will love this.

I'd say try out Overlord.

It's like Pikmin, only evil and twisted. It's pretty sweet. I know they have a free demo download for it on Live.

Fable mixed with Pikmin, with a good amount of LOTR spoofing to go along with.

It's never been so much fun razing the Hobbit village.

F.E.A.R (or F.E.A.R Files) they both rock
Armored Core 4 (rocks)
Mass Effect
Lost Planet
Crackdown(like a supercop in a GTA-ish area, free-roam)
Assassin's Creed
Ace Combat 6: Fires Of Liberation
Dead Rising (MUST HAVE, if you like slaughtering zombies in a mall, with almost everything you can grab hold of in a mall, as a weapon. Win)
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (one of the best games I've played on the 360.)
