Nintendo DS rocks!

Well I have one now and I love it to death. I play it so much I gotta charge it at least once a week! I love being able to just lay on my bed or take it with me to work when the workload is low and play it like crazy! So far I own Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros. and Phantom hourglass for it. I also got my wife a pink one with Mario Party, and Mario Kart DS, which both are also awesome!

I hate to say it but I may like it more than my Wii! No complaints about the Wii, but the portable factor kind of makes the DS stand out more in my eyes!

I'll post this here instead of making a new thread..

I was thinking about buying a Nintedo DS, the DS Lite to be exact.

Anyone have one of those?

Yep I have NDSL (Nintendo DS Lite), had it for a while now and love it, there are some great games for it, and its a lot nicer to look at than the NDS, and from what I've read, its nicer to use too!

I only have a few games for it, but I do have a R4DS, which uses a Transflash (Micro SD) card for storage, and plugs into the NDS card slot (Slot-1), this allows you to play Homebrew made for the DS, and yes you can play illegal ROMs too, but there are plenty of Homebrew games and apps to keep you happy.

That's cool. :)

Here comes some stupid questions! (I'm useless with technonlgy...) The DS Lite plays the same games as the original DS, right?

And, is the DS Lite more expensive (I'm guessing it can't be too much more) than the DS?

Yes. Just like the relationship with the GBA and the GBA SP.

Yeah, the regular DS is $100, an the DS Lite is $130.

Don't forget bout the GB Micro, though not an Advance it does play the Advance cards.

Also the DS/DSL can play advance games too (But not GB and GBC games), from what I understand the Advance port (or Slot-2) was only meant for the use of future add-ons (like the Nintendo DS browser's extra memory ), but they decided to make it GBA compatible to add extra functionality.

*EDIT*
Wikipedia wrote:Although the secondary port on the Nintendo DS does accept and support Game Boy Advance cartridges (but not Game Boy Color or original Game Boy cartridges), Nintendo has emphasized that its main intention for its inclusion was to allow a wide variety of accessories to be released for the system, the Game Boy Advance compatibility titles being a logical extension.

Do they even still sell the Original Nintendo DS. Yeah me and my wife's DS are DS Lites. I have the Red/Black one, she has the pink one.

Well here they can only be found second hand, for not that much cheaper than a new DSL, and all the accessories sold here are for the DSL, not the DS, so really its not worth buying a DS, well not here anyways!

Yeah I know a place that sells them used. DS Lites used are $99, Original DS is $79. Not worth it IMO. Rather just pay the $130 have a nice new more stylish system with a brighter screen with a warrenty!

The orignal DS looks big and ugly too me. Don't like how the screen sorta just folds over instead of locking up like a clamshell. Might be a little more comfortable in your hands however

So true! The DSL looks MUCH better than the original! In fact, I bought a DSL (a black one) today. :)

Even though I didn't buy any games for it, I can play my GBA games in the mean time.

And speaking of games, I'm definitely going to buy Pokemon Diamond (hey, I kinda grew up with it!) , Top Spin 2 and Animal Crossing.
