Buy a new one, put the broken one back in the box, and return it as damaged. :P

Call MS looking for a "coffin" for it to be sent off for repair. ALL 360s still fall within the extended 3 year rrod warranty so this repair will be done free of charge.

Happened to me last year, their customer service here in Europe isn't bad but their repair centre here sucks. Both mine and my brothers launch 360s failed within a week of each other. He got his original console back and rrod again within 30 mins, I got a refurbished machine with a broken wireles module(i.e would only work with wired pads, all my wireless pads turned off as soon as synched). Both of us recieved brand new 360s and a wireless pad each for our troubles.

ALL 360's are covered when they get the 3 RLOD.

The console has not been out for three years so you are still covered by the warranty.

If stores do the same things today that they did with the last generation of systems, the serial number is scanned along with the UPC. One of my buddies tried to pull that when his PS2 started to have frequent DRE problems. Needless to say, it didn't work.

Not all stores perform that check. In particular the one I used to work for was horrendously easy to cheat out of entertainment stock. Dedicated gaming stores may do, but if you go to a general retailer you have a much better chance of pulling it off.

Has anybody tried this before?

if not, and it works, that's just sad.

This was at a Target store. It's been so long since I bought a system so I wasn't sure. Love the pic in your sig btw.

Beating the **** out of it might very well realign the x-clamp on the bottom of the board. I wouldn't suggest it though.

You're not getting what he's saying.

The X360 was released Novermber 22nd 2005, so you still have a valid warranty until November 22nd 2008.

Er, regular XBOX? I wasn't even aware there was a RROD problem for that one.

Sorry, can't help you there.

But you should have said that in the first place "older model" doesn't elaborate very well.

Oh an original Xbox. Man dude you were about ready to give me an aneurysm.

Oddly I've never ever heard of the original having a RLOD problem. Guess you might want to do what it says and call Microsoft about it.

It did, in fact. If something went wrong, the green ring on the front would turn red.

I still use an old xbox too as the 360 cant possibly hope to contain the awesomeness of Steel Battalion and the 40 button controller of the gods 8). Its just too much awesomeness for it to withstand without getting the rrod (plus the fact that the controller can't be connected to the 360).

True, but I meant he's using an old Xbox as is it's still new.

When a last gen console breaks, get a current-gen console.

Most of them, yeah. I dunno if it's compatible with the full library, though.
