I was playing a *new* copy of SSBB today, and when I am playing it, a message comes up saying (something like) "An error has occurred. Remove the disc and refer to the Wii manual." When playing the story mode, the cutscene's loading times were insane, playing a tiny bit then freezing and then taking about 5 minutes to play the rest of the vid. Is my Wii broken? What should I do?

The problem may not be with the disc. There's a known issue where some Wiis have trouble playing the dual-layered SSMB discs. I don't have the link at the moment but check nintendo's website. They're covering most repairs.

Well I tried playing again today...now on the load times, the system makes the weird scratching noise. I checked the disk, however there were no scratches on it...

That's actually the disc spinning that's making that noise. Nothing's being scratched or anything like that. The system can't read the disc, so it tries to spin it to get the eye to read.

My Wii's been doing that with all disc based games lately. Wii, GameCube...doesn't matter.

And the other day, the menu was stuttering. I ended up having to restart the entire unit.

Methinks the Wii is not as sturdy as one would hope for.

Ya know...come to think of it, my Wii's loading time on the Shop Channel took about 10 minutes. Again what should I do? Is this normal?

No, that's not normal for it to take that long. It's done it to me as well, and I thought it was my router. It wasn't.

I don't think all Wii's do it, but it's becoming a pain.

It might be due to leaving it sit idle in standby, because it gets really hot and that can wreak havoc on the system itself.

I shut mine down all the way when I'm not using it. I'm afraid the damage might be too much if I continue to leave it run like that.

So should I send it in or not?

Yeah, I would. If you're not sure, see if you can get in touch with Nintendo, tell them the problems you're having and ask them if it's worth sending to them to be looked at.

My Wii is awesome, in fact, I'm posting here on it right now. Speed is comparable to dialup, but my PC is acting screwy again, so its nice to have a backup way to get to Seibs.

Whoa. You're getting dial up speeds out of the Wii? Then something has to be wrong with it's configuration. I can usually get 2.5-3.0 megs out of mine.

I surely hope the speed will pick up for you, because dial up is a terrible, horrible thing, and no one should ever have to suffer with it.

Well, its fast, but I'm used to DSL on the computer. I'd say it takes an extra 10 to 20 seconds to load each page. Been a while since Ive had dialup, so I was a little off in my comparison.

It amazed me that, even through our poopy wireless router, there is absolutely no slow down on the internet or in intensive online gaming.



In fact, it plays videos and music better than my pc



I recommend investing in a cooling unit to all wii users. I've had two freezes over the past few days, from my continuous Mario Kart gaming. You don't wanna fumble when it's the big show now!

One more word of warning...don't go to Dell's website on the Wii. For some reason, it will jam your browser to the point the entire system locks up.

The first time, I thought nothing of it, just a fluke, it happens. Tried it again and again just to be sure and sure enough...it's their site. Jammed the entire machine.

The Wii is a piece of crap. There is not one single decent game for it. Boy, am I sorry I got one.

Go spam somewhere else.
If you don't like the Wii, give it to Shadowman. He appreciates its quality and wants one.
