I'm surprised as hell that IGN gave GTA 4 a 10, surprised in a good way.

I've been looking forward to this game for a while now. Added with the fact it comes out on the 29th, which happens to be my birthday. Makes it even better.

It's been a long while since IGN gave a game a 10. Hopefully in 3 days, we won't be disappointed.

At Wikipedia, it says they took out planes, bikes, jetpacks, parachutes, and tanks.

They took out half the fun **** I did in San Andreas!

Well, since there's no way I'm getting a PS3 or a 360 in the near-future, I guess I'll have to wait for a PC release.

With how compact Liberty City is, I'm not surprised by them removing Tanks and Planes.

But I can't see them removing the bikes, jetpacks and parachutes.

I remember spawning a tank in GTAIII. But I assume that they'd add more space, like how they increased the sizes of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas from GTA1.

That part is just weird. I guess this means they won't have as many collectibles as the past games, unless they're adding a new way to reach tall buildings.

Well I know there will be helicopters you can drive. And while not all buildings can be entered, randoms ones will be open so you can get onto the roof.

I will miss what they took out, but I have no doubt as to the 10 rating that this game has been given. My only disappointment at the moment is that there isn't a PC version available.

From Kotaku

Kotaku wrote:Does GTA IV have Feature X from Vice City or San Andreas?
Character customization isn't as deep as it was in San Andreas, so you won't be hitting the gym or tattoo parlor to shape your own unique Niko. You can't own property, fly planes, customize cars or parachute off of skyscrapers. In multiplayer, you can choose how your character looks, with options for hair, hats, tops, pants, glasses and more. As you progress in ranked online matches, you'll unlock new looks for your character.

I gotta agree with Locust, with what they took out, I will miss. But if it got a 10 from IGN and a A+ from 1up.com even without those features. Then it has to be grand.

I was watching Gametrailers review and they didn't say they took anything out, except the character customizing is a lot less than it was in San Andreas. No body building, but you can still change your clothes. I high doupt they'ld take out planes and tanks. Those were some of my favourite thing to do. I had one of those VTOL jets in every garage in SA. Either way I'm picking it up tomorrow.

They just played it on X-Play (Not just reviewing, they just played it for a few minutes).

Oh My God. They used the Euphoria Engine. they showed Niko walking out of a building (Lo and behold, no load screen) and they walked into a guy several times. When the guy feel down, they set Niko on top of him, while his feet reacted and moved against the guy realistically.

The character movements they showed were just fantastic. the rest of th game was, too. The character movements impressed me the most.

Just to note. That stuff was indeed removed. They wanted to go with a much more realistic GTA this time around. Sort of like the Getaway, but actually good. Flying a plane around a tiny city makes no sense....And neither does a Russian in a jetpack.

the jetpack was actually kind of fun. And by San Andreas they went completely over-the-top in wackiness. C'mon, a gangbanger rises to manage a rapper, steal from a casino in an ocean's 11 level plan, buy properties in 3 cities, become one of the chinese mob, work black ops for a hyper-government agent, and still manage to stop the flow of drugs into his hometown? Realism rarely had anything to do with it.

But hey, realism has it's pluses.

I'm getting through the story in GTA IV, and I'm really impressed. Impressed so much I had to give my copy to my roommate to hold hostage until I finished all of my finals for this semester.

They could easily make the GTA IV story the basis for a GTA movie, and it would be beautiful.

I haven't played much of the story yet but I like the cops and robbers mode online I played that for hours yesterday with about 12 of my friends and we had a blast.

Jason Statham as the GTA3 guy! I thought of that earlier today.

By the way, GTA IV got a Gold award and Game of the Month from EGM. I mean, that's to be expected, but I'm just putting that out there.

(Why no PC port? You make Shadowman sad. Sad-owman.)

I got it early (got it at the minute the local game shop opened)
I've luckily gotten free days off from school all the way to monday
But sadly, I'll be in Russia by friday, so thursday and the rest of the evening on wednesday will be spent at GTA 4
Easily one of the best games I've ever played

So I just finished the Ruff Riders mission, I'm about 27% through the story and I saw something very depressing.

Gas in Liberty City is $2.09, thats bull.

Actually it fluctuates just like in real life. A few days ago (in real life time) it was at $2.43 in the game.

From what I've seen so far, GTA IV totally deserves the high marks it's gotten. It completely recaptures the thrill of GTA III and adds plenty of new stuff, and does just about everything excellently.

Some of my favorite things so far:

Getting accosted by a guy wearing a pot on his head.
Calling 911 then jacking the cop car that responds.
Republican Space Rangers and radio station WKTT.
Punching a loan shark out of a high window.
Bowling, yes bowling!
Getting your money's worth at the Triangle Club. ;;)

If there is one thing I can complain about, it's the music. After Vice City it declined. And now it really fell towards the bottom. Liberty City Rock and Vladovostok are the only two stations worth listening to.

I'm disappointed with how, while driving, you can't have the radio off.

that makes things so much more bearable. I was expecting the same way to turn off the radio the same as it was in VC and SA, scroll through the the stations until you came to the "off" slot.
