The Force Unleashed

Well, since the topic has been annihilated. Here we go.

I picked up Force Unleashed on Friday, last night I started fighting Darth Vader for the final level. After several retarded glitches and screw-ups, I stopped playing for the night.

Which brings me to my main concern with SW:FU.

The game wasn't ready. It really does seem like we ended up paying $60 for a game that should have been left in the oven for a few more months.

I die several times in the game. But the game poses no challenge what-so-ever. It's not hard, it's glitchy.

Opponents have a tendency to knock you over, half the time you either go skidding across the ground(for a ridiculously long way mind you) with no ability to do anything at all while the other opponents continually hammer you with lasers, missiles and Ewoks.

Other opponents get stuck running up against nothing, or stacked boxes. So much for the "magnificent" A.I. we were promised.

"Oh hell yeah, when I get picked up with force powers, I'll totally grab onto something to try and save myself."

"So, uh, what are you doing now?"

"Um...running into boxes"

"Why?"

"Well with all my force particular programming, that left out any room to program in any common sense."

Honestly, it does get ridiculous ever now and again.

Further more, the story, it doesn't seem long enough, it seems rushed.

-Spoilers- If you read past this, you lose any ability to bitch about me ruining **** for you.

They kill off Shaak Ti. I mean, what the hell. I though we were supposed to be able to be either good or evil in a bootleg type KOTR system.

But no, it all boils down to the only choice, at the end of the game, to kill Darth Vader for revenge or go to kill the Emperor.

Not to mention the glaring pothole of you kicking the @#$% out of General Khota, turning him into a blind drunkard only to seek him out on Cloud City for him to help you start a rebellion. Khota refuses to do anything because he's can't do anything, because the whole blind thing, and he apparently lost his connection to the force.

But he says nothing about the fact that the person he's helping, is also the guy who a few days or weeks earlier stomped the snot out of him.

Well I haven't beaten the game yet, maybe we get some closure other than the fact that Starkiller ended up starting the rebellion under Darth Vaders orders, but it's ok, since Darth Vader betrayed him twice now, he has no plans to help Darth Vader any longer so he decides to rescue Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and General Garm from the Death Star where Bail Organa was seen by the Emperor as one of the founders of the rebel alliance.

And for some reason the Emperor decided to let him stay in the Senate along with his daughter instead of just carpet bombing Alderaan after all is said and done?

My only other gripe is that the lightsaber acts like a lightsaber, against everything and nothing. It will cut, slice, and stab, but nothing falls apart gets burned, or anything like that.

Don't get me wrong, the game is good. But look at it like the first Fable. Everything we were promised vs Everything we got.

Damn it. The commericals make it look so good. Coughler has been waiting for a decent action star wars game for a while now

The commercials always do their best to make a game look good. Reviewers (supposedly) are supposed to tell us whether a game is actually worth buying. But I don't trust reviewers either...

Like I said. The game is good. I'm glad I bought it.

But from the same standpoint as Fable. Everything we were shown that we would get in the game vs the actual product.

They should have spent a couple more months on the game, fine tune things get out some of the glitches.

I got it for wii. The cutscenes are awful. (the animation feels like a zelda CD-i game) The game also tends to swarm you with enemies that corner you, then keep using stun attacks until you're dead. The AI enimies also seem to have no understanding as to what a jedi is, sice they rushat you like you're a friggin' gungan. Oh, and that star destroyer thing? It's just a cutscene. I mean, come on, the 360 and PS3 versions let you do it, but not on the wii? Give me a break. However, the controls feel great, the extra additions, like visiting the jedi temple and getting Garm bel Iblis, are great, and the Multiplayer is incredible, with one flaw. Apparently, characters with unique lightsabers, like darth Maul, are forced to used single bladed swords. It's still a good game over all, and I can't wait to beat it.

Yeah I heard the game was mediocre. The game had so much hype behind it I consider it a "Bust" if IGN rated it anything less than 9. It got a 7.0 If I recall so thats a bust!

From my understanding the Story is awesome, the graphics are beautiful, but the gameplay is very very lacking.

but for wii, it's the opposite. Great gameplay but the best graphics are pasted in cconcept art, and the cutscenes are terrible.

Thats just to be expected of the Wii. I've given up on 3rd party games on Wii, kinda only buy the 1rst party ones these days. If I have a choice between a Wii and a PS3 version I always get the PS3 version... the exception is Guitar Hero. I picked it up for Wii because the Playstaion 3's guitar is broken, or at least thats my understanding from the reviews I've read.

But yeah Nintendo really screwed up by making that thing so weak... but It really benifits Sony as a result. Honestly I think the PS3 would be forgotton already like the Saturn had the Wii not been so weak. Developers seem to have no problem making a game for 2 systems, but the third one usually gets dropped. If the Wii could graphically compete with the 360 and PS3, the PS3 would be no more, and HD-dvd would of won the format war.

Yes there is a PS2 version, and while it does suffer from some/most of the same problems Senior Hugo mentioned, it is still a good, fun game.

I'm thinking I'm just going to stick with the PSP version until I get my PS3.

Well that's what Soul Caliber 4 banked on.

I got it for the Wii. The graphics are definately not the best - even by the Wii's standards. However the controls/gameplay are/is a lot of fun. The dueling mode is quite amusing as well, it's just too bad that there aren't any speciality sabers...

ive got to say i picked it up for the wii about a week ago i think the gameplay is great but it all feels a bit rushed the graphics aren't spectacular but the game itself has quite a good story i dont think they shouldve introduced leia though and master rota shouldn't have been blinded and what about shaak ti i think they couldve made her last a bit longer but overall 8/10 i think maybe 9

I got it on the 360 and it's a fun game that is very short. It took me about a week to beat it. There's not a lot of replay value after you beat it, this is because of the level select that you get after beat the game so all I had to do was go back and replay the last level and kill Vader to see "the Dark side ending" (IMHO it's a major let down). It's a good game but not the great game it could have been.

If I had to choose between it and SW: KOTOR 1 as the best Star Wars game of all time SW: KOTOR 1 still wins even with lackluster graphics because there is more to do in SW: KOTOR 1 than in SW: TFU.
