PS2 DVD sound issues

Had this problem for a while, but just realized I could ask here.
When I play games on my PS2, I get normal sound, but when I play movies, it seems like it's only playing half the sound. I have to jack the volume way up just to hear anything. I've tried looking at the settings, and can't find anything that seems amiss.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this? It can't just be mine that's done this. Thanks.

Could be the Dynamic Range Control. It can really screw with the level of the sound.

I don't own a PS2 however, so I could be wrong on this.

I have the original ps2 and i also have the slim and the sound is lower than it should be. Its just a limitation of the system nothing can be done unless your awesome like me and have your ps2 hooked into your home theatre system.

Your awesome will turn to fail if the unit's sound processing goes kaput. No sound system will work if that happens.

Also, if the DRC is causing problems, no sound system will be able to help either.

There's no awesome, just less potential for fail.
