Awesome $20 bin find!

I was digging through the $20 game bin at wal-mart today and stumbled upon a copy of Unreal Tournament III for PS3. I couldn't believe it really! Unreal Tournament III is a game I've wanted for a while, and while I'd prefer it on PC at least the PS3 includes Mouse and Keyboard support and offers a damn near same experience as the PC. and for $20 can't beat that! I had to take it over to a clerk just to make sure. He said it just dropped to $20 yesturday.

Nice catch, though I think I"ve got you beat. Got UT3 for PC for only $5 at a swap meet bin.

yeah you definitly got me beat. I just opened it up today and its pretty awesome on the PS3, but the lack of a mouse and Keyboard are annoying. Granted yes it does support USB mouse and keyboard, but I really don't feel like having to sit that close to the TV that I can use one.

wow...that sucks! I just totally lost interest in this game. A friend came over and wanted to play with me, yet their is no split screen. Its Lan, on-line, or nothing as far as the multiplayer... wtf? What were they thinking?

Cheap generic PC port nothing else. It looks and plays like a PC game, and it seems console gamers have more of a disadvantage than an advantage. Mouse and Keyboard support is there, but only via USB, and apparently they slowed it down from the PC version. PS3 users can only play PS3 users.

I just want to know what the advantage is of buying Unreal 3 for a console if I can't even do split screen? Its no wonder this game was in the $20 bin.

A lot of games have gotten rid of split screen multiplayer...

yeah and its total BS. I prefer LAN over split screen anyday but its not exactly always an option. Especially in this case. Who can afford 2 PS3's? Besides on my 46 inch Sony Bravia split screen isn't so bad. We use it for resistance all the time. It splits it right down the middle so both players basically have like a 23 inch screen.

Simple answer. Splitscreen has become old and outdated. Originally the concept was there so friends could play a game against each other or in co-op together. Now, most people just play online against and with each other. Halo 3 had Splitscreen as well, but me and my bro found it much better to just play at our own televisions as it protects the aspect ratio and allows us a full view.

I'm with you. Not everyone has the option of online play and there are those of us with TVs good enough that splitscreen is still a plausible option.

Yeah when I lived at a rental house with 2 roomates a couple years ago, me and my roommate both had original Xboxes so we would Lan them together and Play halo. Easy to do, so why use splitscreen when you don't have to? We both had 27inch screens so it worked out perfectly.

I understand why you'd rather LAN than play on splitscreen, but you don't always have that luxury. Only one other friend of mine I know owns a PS3. Actually Only one friend of mine own's a 360! Believe it or not most of my friends are kinda like "screw all the systems, PC all the way!" Anyway yes LAN or On-line is always better multiplayer, but IMO Splitscreen should always be an option for when you don't have that luxury.

Unless your that dude on Youtube who has 3 PS3's its a little hard to play FPS's with your friends when you only have 1 PS3!

Any multiplayer FPS should have a split screen option. Just because it is an old feature does not justify removing it. I have UT III and don't play it much. I'd only ever play it online if I went multiplayer, but the option for split screen should still be there. No wonder this game did not sell very well.
