"official" Guitar Hero World Tour thread

OMG how hard is it to make guitars with bluetooth? Xbox 360 gets its own guitar, Wii gets its own guitar, what does PS3 get? The EXACT same guitars that Xbox 360 has with RF dongles!

Why is Activision being so lazy about this? I've heard nothing good about the guitars with dongles. Heard they get a lot of interference and tend to miss notes at random. Looks like once again I'll be getting the Wii version of Guitar Hero.

Good guestion. With the Wii, it's pretty much just piggy-backing the wiimotes built-in connection, but then why wouldn't the equipment be more the $10 less? :-?

yeah I don't understand why the Wii one's just as expensive as the rest for that matter. The guitar is basically an oversized nunchuck. After finding out GH3 for PS3 used the dongles and how many people were complaining about interference problems, and returning the game, I actually went to a used CD store to get an old version for PS2 just to tide me over until World Tour came out in hopes they'd get a bluetooth guitar for PS3 by that time. They had GH3 for the Wii, with guitar for $60, and I had $35 store credit so I figured what the hell I'll just get it for Wii.

Activision claimed on GH3 they didn't have enough time to develop a bluetooth guitar in time for Christmas, which was understandable. But a year later the dongles are back. My brother in law just bought GH:WT for PS3 so me and the wife are borrowing it for the weekend. Seems to work alright, but it is annoying. You have to use the DS3 to turn on the PS3, then you gotta push the PS buttons on the Guitar and drumset for them to sync with the system.

The dongles are quite a bit fatter than the GH3 ones so hopefully they work better. I still think I'm going to pick it up for Wii as then I already have a second guitar for Bass and I overall just like the Wii version better. The remote speaker is cool!

I know the PS3 runs in High Def, but I honestly didn't notice much of a difference in graphics compared to GH3 on Wii. Also unlike GH3 the Wii gets everything the PS3 and 360 versions get. Full downloadable content and everything so the only sacrifice is the High Def, and honestly its not about the graphics anyway when playing these games!

Well i played it on PS3 all weekend and didn't have any trouble but it still doesn't make sense. The PS3's controllers and the bluray remote is bluetooth. The point is the PS3 has its own wireless controller technology... So why not use it?

The problem isn't them being lazy, the problem is you buying Guitar Hero :P

I didn't buy it for PS3. I'm borrowing the PS3 version from my brother-in-law. I plan on buying it for the Wii however since the remote system works better. Not to mention buy the full band kit, and I already have another guitar for Bass.

Guitar Hero in general is evil. I saw a kid that looked like he was about 7 playing Guitar Hero on expert and didn't miss any notes. That's rediculous, put that energy and focus towards something that can help you in life like playing a REAL guitar.

ahh, but I do put that energy towards playing a real guitar...just sometimes its fun to kick back and play with family and friends that don't have that luxury.

You beat me to the point!

The point being: Why would I want to practice for hours a day to POSSIBLY become good at Guitar, when I can spend twenty minutes a day BEING good at Guitar Hero?

Guitar Hero = Fun
Guitar = well can be fun. Depends how commited you are to it. I used to play guitar but couldn't commit to practicing every day. It felt like homework. So I stopped taking lessons and gave up on it.

Point is not everyone can get into playing guitar, but nearly anyone can play guitar hero! Its really just fun as hell!

I have tried real guitar, but the frets hurt my fingers. I'll stick with rapid--and possibly rhythmic--button mashing on a fake guitar.

They do at first. eventually your fingers get used to the strings. Also electric guitars aren't quite as harsh on the fingers as Acoustics.

Anyway I for one too would rather play my fake plastic Wii guitar than a real one. You can get good at Guitar Hero a LOT quicker than you can a real guitar. I think someday when life settles down though I might try to play guitar again, maybe get lessons, etc. Just learn it as a hobby. But for now I'll just stick with Guitar Hero.

So has anybody else played world tour yet? The drums are pretty cool, like them better than rock band's. Actually have cymbals!

The game still is a bit behind the times as far as Rock band goes. But thats ok, I'll still take it over Rock Band. I hate EA, I like Activision, the drum set's better, and they have Metallica.

Doesn't Rock Band 2's drum set have cymbals? I swear in an ad I saw it did.

Ion Audio released the Premium Drum Kit, and those have two cymbals with an optional third. It can also be converted to a real electronic drum kit.

Finally got a chance to play this at a demo kiosk. Guitar seemed too easy, although that was probably just the song I was playing. Drums was more fun than I expected, although my wrists were sore after just one song. Same for my leg having to work the bass pedal (I'll blame that one on a low stool)

Finally got my band kit (Wii/uk) the drums seem to work ok - I did ok in the few songs I've played on medium. The new guitar has phantom strumming issues though which is annoying as I quite like it's shape and strumbar - the new starpower button is way too stiff though.

I hope (but doubt) that activision sets up a 'duff instrument' returns system - I'm not going to send it off at my own expense.

I love this game. For custom characters, I made Sailor Moon and Colenel Sanders
