What does this mean? Only a quarter of the ring is red(360)

This is the first time this has happened. But the screen started flashing red. My brother turned off the xbox 360. When we tried to turn it back on the power light came on but the bottom right light is red. Any idea what's wrong? We can't play anything now.

Do you get an error message on the display? If it's E74 you're effed. If that's the case, call Microsoft and tell them you're getting a three red light error. As long as your system is not 3 years old, they'll replace/repair it for free.
