I was just thinking, is there any old games that you'ld still play even in this High Definition era? They can be from any system. NES, SNES, N64, PS1, etc.

I
still play alot of SNES and Megadrive/Genesis games.. I'm not gunna name them all cos I'd be here all day. Some include Sonic 3 & Knuckles (which IMO is the best Sonic game on the Genesis), Ranger X, Mortal Kombat (A B A C A B is something I'll
never forget

), Robocop VS Terminator, Eternal Champions, Rocket Knight Adventures, Streets of Rage 1 & 2 and Golden Axe on the Genesis.
As for the SNES I'm still playing Donkey Kong Country, Megaman X 1-3, Yoshi's Island, Cybernator, Earthworm Jim, Gradius 3, R-Type III - The Third Lightning, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4 - Turtles in Time, Super Mario All-Stars, Starfox, Final Fantasy III, and..... Super-godamn-Metroid

I dont just still play the Genesis or SNES either!! Oh no!!
I've been quite happily pointing and clicking my way through The Secret of Monkey Island which I've managed to get working on my DS lite. I also picked up a MegaCD emulator for my laptop, so I've been playing some SegaCD and 32X games lately, like Sonic CD, Night Trap, Road Avenger, Snatcher, Knuckles Chaotix and Sewer Shark, though some of those I'll admit I've been playing for a laugh

I know it might seem like thats just a list of my personal favourate games.. but.. I honestly think that they are still very enjoyable and playable to this day.

Oh Jevus. Of the games that I still play regularly...
Toe Jam and Earl
Streets of Rage 2/3
Street Fighter 2
Double Dragon 2/3
Mega Man 2/3
Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Ninja Gaiden 2 and the SMS version
Shining Force 1
Alex Kidd
And I just started playing Mario 64 on the Virtual Console. Great stuff.

Final Fantasy VII and Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
If you want to go older than that, then I'd say the original Legend of Zelda, the first Dragon Quest (back when its U.S. name was Dragon Warrior) and Super Metroid on the SNES.

Super Mario 2, 3, and World definitely. The original Super Mario Bros. still controls great too, but it's repetitive and a tad boring considering what came after. In my opinion, Mario 64 has aged a little, but it's still good.
Another vote for Turtles in Time!!! Best Ninja Turtles game ever? Seriously, the gameplay just rocks and I think the graphics are even on par with the Arcade version, and it has a couple extra levels to boot.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2. My fave fighter this side of the Smash Bros. series. Lovely animation, vast array of characters, easy to do super-combos. Perfect for non-hardcore fighters.
I was playing some Star Fox 64 the other day. It's aged pretty well.
Goldeneye 007. For what it is, it's still fun, and I think it has a better story mode than Perfect Dark.
The original Mega Man series. Straight forward, little story to get in the way, just plain fun. The X series has better graphics and more complex gameplay elements, but I actually find the original series to be more fun overall. Plus, all the silly names they came up with the bosses after awhile are hilarious! Haven't gotten 9 yet though(no high speed.....)
Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. Graphics=still great to me, and the gameplay is as fun as ever, particularly the space fight over Endor. R3 doesn't have as many fun "replayable" levels in my opinion, but you get to drive an At-At first person, totally awsome. Hope we get an R4 someday...
Cybernator's fun. I played it for the first time just last year, and it has aged pretty well. I just wish it had a save or password feature.
Final Fantasy, pretty much any(though mostly IV and up). A good story is a good story. Chrono Trigger too. I only beat that game once or twice, maybe I'll get to it again sometime....

Duke Nukem was awesome. Sure the graphics have been well surpassed, but the gameplay is still fun.

I used to, but I rarely play old games anymore.
It's not that I don't like them, rather I do, but there doesn't seem to be any reason to go back when new stuff comes out all the time.
I'd rather get two great game experiences than repeat one experience twice.

Another vote here as well; Turtles in Time is a treat to play. It's quirky and fun, just like the Turtles and I think represented them better than the cartoon did.
The SNES had a slew of other great games: Super Metroid, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, FF6, DK Country, Star Fox, and Street Fighter 2.
As for great NES games, see sig below.

Forbidden forest for the C64. One of the first games I ever played, and it was awesome. It had 2 sequals, neither were as epic. One of the first to have the scene actively change from day to night and animated blood.

I have both, the game was good but I always hated fighting those little bots in the baxter building.

I was playing MegaMan X the other day. I had promised myself I wasn't going to, but then all of a sudden, there I was, with all four upgrades and sub-tanks. I had thought I wasn't going back after playing Maverick Hunter X. (If you have a PSP, buy Mega Man Maverick Hunter X) I was apparently very wrong.
And then there was Symphony of the Night. I played that again a few hours ago. The voice acting is still crap, (Should I say still? It was always pretty bad, except on PSP) but the gameplay still goes down smooth. (Which is why all but a few Castlevania games since then use roughly the same gameplay)
I was playing Final Fantasy VIII. I kind of prefer the Draw Magic system over the classic MP style. I'm just weird that way.
And I was playing Chrono Trigger DS. I don't need to tell you that game is still good.
Then there's Half-Life and it's expansions. Sure, it isn't as pretty or deep or epic as it's sequels. And it's entire story can be summed up in a few sentences. And the characters are pretty much down to nameless Security guards and scientists. (And also a nameless G-man, but that's for another thread) But damn it it's still a fine game!
