How can I multi region a PS2?

I've been through 3 old style PS2s this month and can't afford to keep buying them and voiding the return policy by removing the disc tray for slide cards. I want to get a slim PS2 but is there a way to multi region it without taking it apart? I have seen multi region DVD software but does it work for the games too?

To do it for games you need the magicswitch mod. It is similar to the slide card mod, but even easier to install and remove as its just a few pieces of plastic that cover the sensors that detect whether there is a disc in the drive or if it has been opened.

The same places that sell the slide card usually sell the magicswitches as well. Alos you may need new swapmagic discs as the older versions don't work with the slim ps2s(before 3.5 if I recall).

I myself bought a modded ps2 like a month ago, I can play games from all regions (not to mention save a lot of money by downloading games  ) but they had to open up the ps2 so the warranty is void.
But if you only want to be able to play games region free then the magic switch mod sniper samurai recommended is the way to go.

You can also be a man of the sea using the mod that I mentioned plus the new swapmagic discs will switch the output from pal to ntsc and visa versa(handy for Americans importing from Europe or Europeans importing from America that have crap tvs) and has action replay.

True enough.

I've never heard a good reason for Regional Coding though. Why should I have to go about finding crazy ways of playing Japanese games? Games which I am happy to pay for?

Fixed for Europe 8)

You have to keep 'the list' in a safe place.

If we were to lose 'the list', it would be bad.

Very bad.
