I'm a big fan of video game music. Its all I listen to. My ipod's full of it (I have an unusual taste in music).

So, since I'm always looking for new music, I thought I'd ask: what are the best game soundtracks?

Metal Gear
Final Fantasy
Mario
Legend of Zelda
Chrono Trigger
Castlevania

The soundtrack for Super Smash Bros. Brawl is something to check out if you're a Nintendo fan. It's got a few dozen remixes of video game scores, as well as the original songs.

Guilty Gear X
Wild Arms
Grandia
Final Fantasy 8
The Star Ocean Series, Star Ocean 2 in particular.

Those are probably my favourite soundtracks, nothing else comes to mind at the moment.

Even though I didn't like the game, Silent Hill 2. It was so moody, creepy, and ethereal.

Too Human
Legend of Zelda
Fable 2
Blue Dragon
Dragon Quest 8

I'd say Halo but the only real memorable song is the Mjolnir theme

First Movement of the Odyssey is okay. There's a couple of other good songs, but not a helluva lot of really memorable ones.

Another is the Team Fortress 2 Soundtrack. Okay, so it's like 4 songs, and you only ever hear them in the main menu. But they're some pretty good songs.

Ugh, Incubus ruined what could have been an awesome song by the constant screeching of "Follow." They sound like a dying cat, it's horrendous.

Some have been posted already but, LOK Soul Reaver1+2, LOK Defiance, which is basically a best-of from the precessors and a few new tracks.

Manhunt, Left 4 Dead, a few Sonic ones, like Adventure 2 Battle.
Resistance and Resistance 2, Devil May Cry series.

Left 4 Dead has a soundtrack? I thought there were only five songs, all of which are about thirty seconds apiece.

I kind of missed out on MM6, might still add it to my NES collection some day; 5 was the last one I bought before I got my SNES.

Funny you should mention humming music from MM6—for some odd reason I was humming the Bright Man music from MM4 the other day while at work, though haven't played that game in quite a while. It just...popped in there!

Bioshock has a good soundtrack. A beautiful instrumental score and some good to decent to odd tunes from the 20s to the 40s and maybe some 50s.
The Atelier Iris games have lovely soundtracks.

Yes, TF2 has some really amusing songs. FF6 has a really good boss song. And who could forget the legendary Super Mario Bros theme. Ooh, Portal has some good songs. And the Half-life 2 Episodes have some good background music. Also Star Fox Command has some awesome instrumental scores.

I actually had both the GC and PS2 versions at one time. I sold my GC version because I thought the controls were kind of weird. The PS2 version had the controls right, and had some pretty cool features. I think the main reason I sold it was for cash to get something else :| .

Mega Man Trivia time: MM6 features two robot masters that were created from a contest held through Nintendo Power. Which robot masters were they?

Super Mario Galaxy. Half of it's soundtrack completely original (As opposed to the other half which is pretty much remixes of older Mario themes), but that half happens to be fully orchestrated. And it sounds fantastic.
