So Halo 2 [PC] is finally coming out...

They sure took their sweet-assed time.

If you are waiting for Halo 2 to come out on PC, it finally will come out on May 22nd (at least that's the date for Canadian release). But if you want to play it, you'd better have Windows Vista or you're out of luck.

This really pisses me off. I was following the development of Halo: Combat Evolved and got mad when I heard that it was going to be a console exclusive. I waited and was happy to get the PC port (even though the save system made me want to punch a baby). Naturally, when I finished it I was anxious for the sequel to come out. I waited. It came out. I waited for the PC port.

I waited. I waited a little more. I finally decided "Screw it, there are other PC FPSes which I'm more interested in."

I'm happy that PC gamers will be able to play Halo 2, but I just think that it was a very stupid move not to release this game sooner. I mean, Halo 2 is an XBOX game. ORIGINAL Xbox, not the newfangled 360! And making it only run on Windows Vista? What the hell is the point of that? I'm sure a system capable of running Halo: Combat Evolved has what it takes to run Halo 2.

Making your PC gamers wait then and forcing them to get a new OS just to play a game which should have come out a long time ago is no way to treat us, Microsoft.

Once again, it looks like I won't be playing Halo 2 after all. Back to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl I go.

Don't get your hopes up. The American release date was May 8th and it got pushed back again. Then again, maybe that's where you got the 22nd from. We'll have to wait and see.

It uses the new version of Direct X that is in Vista to help up the visual effects on the grenade explosions and such. That was the reason for it being only on Vista. Granted they could have put it out on XP, but then they wouldn't have a Halo to help push their new windows format.

I was just using that as an example. All particle effects are redone using the new DX. That includes muzzle flashes, water spray, grenade explosion and debris, reflections and even blood spray.

That's kinda cool, but I hardly think that warrants an OS upgrade. Videocard, maybe, but OS? I don't know, it just feels a little extreme to me. It's like Microsoft thinks that Halo 2 will sell Vista the same way Halo: Combat Evolved helped sell the Xbox.

I have an Xbox, I have Halo 2 for it. If I want, I can go out and get the map pack right this minute.

I don't need Vista, I don't really want Vista. XP suits me just fine for now. After a Service Pack or two, I'll reconsider.

EDIT: To be perfectly fair, I'm using IE7, which rocks on a level different from FireFox. It's not better or worse, but Seibertron is a lot easier to use with IE.

You realise of course that i'm not making fun of you but fun of microsoft right?
In all seriousness, they expect me to buy a whole new OS for a what, a 3 year old shooter that was released for a previous gen console? And all they come up with is "We have improved the explosions and stuffz by using our awesome directx10 thingy!" while shooters that actually look good (Crysis) are right around the corner and are not vista exclusive...

Besides... I like windows XP. It was like a 12 year old girl that developed into a fine woman with boobs. Whereas Vista is still like... a girl of 8 years old...
That girl can come back when she is older and... more developed.

Don't worry XP, I still love you.

IE7 is the worse browser... ever.
I was perfectly content with IE6, it was decent, nothing flashy but decent. It did the job it was suppose to do without a whole lot of whining. Sure I had FF installed but it didn't saw a whole lot of action with IE6 around.
Then I installed IE7...
WARNING YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD THAT PERFECTLY FINE PROGRAM BECAUSE THERE MIGHT BE A 0.0000001% CHANCE IT IS INFECTED WITH AN ALIEN VIRUS THAT WILL DESTROY THE EARTH.
...what?
So I start messing around in the security settings and start turning off all that BS. I don't need my own browser to tell me what I can and cannot do on the internet. Hell, i'm a whole lot older then you IE7! rawr.
WARNING, YOU HAVE TURNED OFF ALL THE WARNINGS! I SHALL NOW ANNOY YOU INTO SUBMISSION BY USING THIS ANNOYING TOOLBAR ON TOP OF YOUR BROWSER SCREEN TO KEEP ON REMINDING YOU ABOUT IT.
Sonofa...
Yeah, so then I realised that there was totally no reason for me to keep on trying to reason with a browser when there was a perfectly fine alternative already installed on my computer. FF has now taken over all of IE's duties. Even though some times for no apparant reason FF crashes when i'm writing a forum post (on any kind of forum) and hit enter to drop down one sentence. But since it will restore the previous session after restarting FF there isn't any harm done.

Yeah Halo 2 PC is out In NZ, saw it the other day and though cool, though its taken them a while at least its out, and then I saw it was for Vista only and though, bastards, not only do you take bloody years to release it onto the PC, but you limit it to the new Microsoft OS, while all the hard core gamers that will want to play this will have their soupped up systems for gaming that use XP, and you make them either upgrade their computer to Vista, or make 'em buy another computer to play this, and then the games they already have possibly won't work on vista anybloodyways!

that might have worked well about 2 or 3 years ago when Vista was originally scheduled to come out. As is, Halo 2 PC(while cool) has been postponed to the point of irrelevancy.

Well, I saw Halo 2 [PC] at Walmart this week. It was almost $60 before taxes. Naturally I didn't buy it.

You're positive? Microsoft just released a notice that it had been pushed back until the 30th.

I'm not joking, I picked it up, complained with my friend, put it back and left.

Yeah, and I hope they finally fixed those damn graficfaults in the game and also took all those damn glitches out, it was funny to see the rocket fly but it sucked to play against player they used it in Multiplayer mode. :-x
