GameInformer has updated there Transformers Hub with the profile of the most prolific and quintessential Transformers villains to ever roll off the assembly line: Decepticon War Monger Megatron!

As the leader of the Decepticons, Megatron has a goal that fans of the cartoons know all too well: to win control of Cybertron for his faction and exterminate the Autobots. Throughout War For Cybertron, he will be searching for the means to achieve this end, a mysterious substance known as Dark Energon.

Just in case Megatron's attitude didn't make him imposing enough, his frame certainly should. The whole of his right arm is covered by a giant fusion cannon, a powerful one-of-a-kind weapon that can destroy a whole city block with a single blast. This power will be on display throughout War For Cybertron as Megatron launches powerful attacks against his enemies, including a brutal sacking of the Autobot home city of Iacon.

Though Megatron will greatly reward loyalty, he's also not concerned with destroying supporters the second they let him down. As such, he's got the helpful ability to Mark Targets (an ability he shares with Optimus Prime) but also the more selfish Drain ability, which will presumably allow him to take the power from his enemies and use it to fuel himself. When switching to vehicle mode, Megatron transforms into a powerful hovering tank that also puts his powerful fusion cannon to use.

He looks more like mobile artillery vehicle than a tank (yes, there is a difference).

Whatever he is meant to be, it looks awesome.

Can't say i'm too impressed with the sharp lines. Too movie-esque and a differing style to the Prime design in my eyes.

You can see where there was a good bit of influence from Beast Wars Optimal Optimus in his design. I always thought that was a great design but never got it since I don't do Primes really.

in the bottom ofthe sketch it says that it's for Hasbro review version... so this supports the toyline rumours

Wow, I think this is Meg's best alt-mode since his original appearance, this thing just screams death & destruction! Nothing since his first G1 form has ever really fit him that well. Tanks and planes are cool, but a gun is made for one single purpose -- killing -- and that best fits Megatron. Now if this thing dosn't fly or move around too much, but instead does just one thing -- blows stuff away! -- it'll be pretty damn sweet

From pretty much everything that we've heard and they've hinted at this game is a startoff point for the new series and the new toyline. God, I hope i've read the signs right.

I disagree. Remember, this is Hasbro's property so all final designs- whether there are toys involved or not- must be approved by them.

Not that I'm rooting against a toy line...it would totally rock. This Megatron looks more menacing than any I've seen in a while. I find it interesting to note the influence of the Animated Megsy as well; that's where the sharp lines are coming from, more than the movie influence I think.

Am I the only one that thinks these designs look fugly? Just can't get behind the pointy aspects of Megs and Soundwave.

Ok activision is now my favorite game company. I hope after the game theres a show (or a new movie franchise) based around this. This game may be able to make me forget bayformers ever happened. Well at least im hoping it will. I still think this is hasbros way of saying "we're sorry for letting bay make those movies". oh and......

Early reports are saying June 2010, however that will most likely be pushed back as it gets closer and they realise how much more work they need to do.

Looks like Classics/Henkei Megs chest design. Not seeing the comparisons to Movie-Megs. A bit in the colouring and general tone of the pics, but this one looks a lot more like something solid than a scrunched up sheet of tinfoil.
Don't totally love it, but willing to go with it for the moment. Vehicle mode is a good idea.
