Nintendo. Third quarter financial briefing. Mr S.Iwata among others says:
"I'd like to introduce you to another new Pokémon title, which should become one of the most anticipated Nintendo DS titles for this year. The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo have been developing a new Pokémon title with the aim to launch the software this year.
The cumulative global sales of all the Pokémon series software have reached 130 million. This new Pokémon software will become the first brand new Pokémon title in 4 years since Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which sold more than 5.8 million units in Japan, was launched.
Of course, this totally new Pokémon title will include new fields of adventure and a number of new Pokémons living there. As a totally new version, it will contain various unprecedented experiences."
It seems that the 5th gen of the Pokemon main series RPG is coming!!

New Pokemon games already? Still waiting for the Gold/Silver remakes. Will it be for the DS, or is there a successor to the DS already?
But new new Pokemon? Yes!

Not another one! I wish Nintendo would just make 1 Pokemon game and be done with. Sure, add new pokemon. But make it like an expansion. Make it like an MMO. Start off with Pokemon Kanto. Then a year later release the Johto expansion. Then whatever came after that. I'm sick of having to start a whole new game everytime a new one comes out and trading with myself to get my own Pokemon on the newest game. Oh, and knock it off with the "event-only" Pokemon like Mew, and Cerebi, and whoever. Not everyone is able to go to an event. Just make it a very rare pokemon, yet still obtainable. Maybe make it so you have to complete a long quest chain to get to where it is.
Oh well, that's my love/hate relationship with Pokemon.

I believe in the heart of the pokeballs! No that's not it...
I'm going to be a Pokemon master! BELIEVE IT! ..........
Anyway... I am a total Pokemon freak. Not a lot of people know that, but now they do.
I'm excited. ;P Though with this news now out, I'm tempted to cancel my preorder of Soul Silver and just wait for the new batch of games. But I guess I'm not going to do that... Since Silver/Crystal are my favourite games and I wuvs Lance and Clair, I have to get it.
The only thing I wish for in the new generation is new non-uber Dragon types, especially a Fire/Dragon and an Ice/Dragon. That and better wifi battle options, such as the ability to battle people randomly online without having to buy whatever the new PBR/Colosseum game for Wii will be called.
But as always, I'll avoid buying one of the first two games and wait the extra year or so for fifth gen's equivalent of Crystal/Platinum/Emerald.

That one-game-with-many-expansions idea is great. It is as great as a pre-earth TF game, which took only 25-26 years for Hasbro to decide to make. So,in about 10 years there will be a PKMN game like the one you describe....

I seriously doubt there'll ever be a game like that. It's more likely they'll either go the route of not allowing cross-gen transfers ala Gen2 to Gen3, or create an easier transfer method. Ex: Special transfer software bundled with a Wii(or later console) game or something along the lines of Palpark Gen3 to Gen4.

Since we're on this topic... Anyone here with a 4th gen game like to battle on NWFC? It'd be cool to fight some people from Seibertron.
I prefer Lv.50 Doubles but I'll go for anything if you'd rather avoid doubles.

Every game is like that.
Every game. Even Mass Effect, yeah, you import your old character but you still have to start from scratch. Same with Final Fantasy. Yeah, I can get Cloud to level 100, get all of his Limit Breaks, hook him up with the best possible Materia, weapons and equipment I can get for him, but I still have to start Squall off with the bare minimum. And for "stuff you can't get unless you do something at the right place at the right time," it's called "pre-order bonuses" in some circles. I happen to have a fancy baseball bat in Left 4 Dead 2, it only shows up if you're in a game with someone who pre-ordered.

If there will be a Pokemon game that will contain all the pokemon in a normal mode - not just a palpark/radar/safari-type "find the rest of the generations" mode - that will be the first pokemon game I will buy.

The first silhouette of a 5th generation monster has been released.

Looks like it has a lot of hair... And for some reason, a hair tie too. o.O
Still, it's so exciting. ;P I wonder what it's going to look like. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Usually, the first images/silhouettes of each game that come to light belong to the starters. This one seems too big to be a basic pkmn. So, it is either an evolved starter or a legendary IMO.
Could it be flames and not hair

I don't think having the starters revealed first is true. Last gen the first one revealed was Munchlax, and obviously Ho-Oh for Gen2. I can't remember Gen3's first reveal... It seems so long ago now.
As for what the new one is... I really couldn't say. Considering now it's just a big black blob the details could be anything!
However, the general consensus reached is for four possibilities:
A Mightyena evolution.
A Lucario/Riolu evolution.
A Ninetails/Vulpix evolution.
Something completely new.

We'll find out when CoroCoro comes out on the 15th!

People keep posting that, but other than some spikes on the 'hair' I'm really not seeing the similarity. o_O

From what I can remember from past reveals, the first new Pokemons shown are neither starters or legendaries (Ho-oh being an exception). Starters are revealed together, too, IIRC. I think they tended to be not related to existing Pokemon, too, at least for GS and RS's reveals (though RS really didn't have much of those).
I hope this guy's new new, not an evolution of an old 'Mon.

Looks like some early scans of the new magazine have been released, giving us our first look at the new dark type Pokemon and its pre-evolution. Of course, nothing is confirmed until the magazine actually comes out.
From what I can see, the names should be romanized as:
Pre-evo: Zoroa
Evo: Zoroaku
I hope the shiny version is white and red. @_@
